After a lot of hard work, we're very pleased to announce the Stable release of Omniscope 2.9, and most notably Omniscope Mobile:

What's Omniscope Mobile?

• A new version of the full Omniscope Viewer, with a browser-based interface using HTML5 for a native-app feel.
  
• Designed ground-up for touch (or mouse) on all modern computing devices: iPad/iPhone (Safari), Android (Chrome/Firefox), Windows (IE9+, Chrome, Firefox), Windows RT (IE), Windows Phone (IE), Mac (Safari, Chrome, Firefox), Linux (Chrome, Firefox), Chromebook.
  
• A drop-in replacement for IOK file publishing to the installed free Viewer.
  
• Removes client installation requirement.
  
• Removes higher client memory requirement for larger IOK files.
  
• Significantly improves performance, with "orders of magnitude" improvement in responsiveness.
  
• Available web based via Omniscope Server, and as a new interface for Omniscope Desktop.

Omniscope Mobile in 2.9 is aimed at publishers and consumers of IOK reports. If you are a publisher, you will continue to use the same Desktop interface from 2.8 to author your IOK files, but with much better publishing options:

1. Distributing IOK files to the free Viewer with the same Desktop interface from 2.8 is still supported, though with the similar memory/installation limitations. However, you can now configure your IOK files to use new browser-based "Mobile" interface if opened in Omniscope 2.9, with reduced memory requirements and significantly improved responsiveness.
   
   
2. To get the full benefits of Omniscope Mobile, swap hundreds of Viewer installations for one central Omniscope 2.9 Server installation (Windows/Mac/Linux), serving up fully authenticated & interactive web-based versions of your reports.

We'll continue to fix critical bugs, but we will not be adding further functionality in this version.

The next planned release, Omniscope 3.0, will see the new interface expanded far beyond publishing and consuming IOK reports. The alpha programme for Omniscope 3.0 will begin in a few weeks.
