Data type: Integer, Date or Category

I have two dashboards. Both have a Period (month number) integer value that is selected from a SQL Server DB. Both fields are integer values in the database and both fields are set as Category types in the field organizer of both dashboards. Both are set as category filter types. However, one is in numeric order 1 thru 12 the other is 1,10,11,12,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. Any ideas of what I could be missing?

When you choose Category data type Omniscope assumes the values in the field should be treated as text, even if they contain reference numbers, month numbers etc. so they are sorted in alphabetical, rather than numeric or chronologic order.
Quick fix is to go to Data>Manage fields>Order and drag the values (by clicking on the little hand next to each number) to create correct sequence.
'Best practice' would be to create a duplicate [Month] field in the Field Organiser (in DataManger space), one formatted as Date, other as Category, in order to choose between the two in the data visualisation space.
You can use the date format field to create time series visualisation (even if the rest of the date is hidden, Omniscope will preserve chronologic order), and category formatted field if you wish to have a 'month-picker' filter for example. You can also use this for 'layering' on graph...

Another "Best practise" is to order values inside field organiser by using "Value order" option. This will be kept for all future refreshes.
