Links to multiple creative file types
  • Louise.Peers January 14, 2011 10:38AM
Is it possible to link data to different creative types? For example I've configured a Video link to be on Creative asset name, but there are also audio and photo creatives within the same data column so I'd like to be able to have one link which finds jpg, mp3 and mpg4 file types. Is this possible?

    Thanks

Can you post an example data file or just a few rows of data?

I'm afraid not - although you could use any of the previous data files I've sent you.

Louise, sorry for the delay in responding - your original post must have slipped through the cracks, partly due to our upgrading the forums.

You should be able to link to any kind of file using the Settings > Links > Add local link menu. You can configure this link to show in the details view, table view, and other places. When you click the link, the linked file will open in the associated application - typically this might be Windows Media Player for a video or music file.

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for your reply. I have configured a link but I can only choose one type of file, eg .jpg when my creatives are mp3, mp4 and jpgs Can I configure one link to handle all these file types?

How did you configure it? Did you configure it as an image set rather than a link?

    Make sure you're using
Settings > Links > Add local link

Louise - you can either point to a folder, in which case multiple files will be imported, but only images displayed, or include links to each file in you data as fully-specified links, with the relevant extensions. Give me a call on Monday afternon to discuss some options like Slideshow in a specific use-case
