Best thing to do is clone the tab by picking 'Copy of current tab' when creating a new tab. Otherwise, a tab will inherit the view settings from a previously configured view in another tab, as long as you haven't opened that view in the new tab. The other thing you can do is select 'Apply to other views' from the view Tools menu, and the view settings will propagate to other tabs.

    Related idea:

Allow you to drag views onto other tabs, as an extension of the existing drag 'n' drop views functionality introduced in 2.6.

If you grab a view and drop it onto another tab, initially it would move the view to that other tab in a default location. Later, we could make it also open that tab and allow you to choose the drop point.

Holding down Ctrl while dragging would copy the view, rather than move it, just like dragging files in Windows Explorer. (Note: Ctrl-dragging views within the same tab to copy rather than move is another useful idea).

Summary of this idea: to allow copying views:
    - within the same tab
    - between different tabs in the same file
    - between different files.

Via special "copy view" and "paste view" menu items, and/or dragging.

See related post about copying entire tabs: http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/comment/2004/#Comment_2004
