Field settings reverting to Text

Hi,
Is it possible to stop Fields resetting from Category to Text when a file is updated. I appreciate this maybe happening because the file is large and of the high number of Field values, however, this is the format that is required.

I'm 99% certain there used to be an option in the Advanced settings menu that allowed you to control this... but I have just been looking through both 2.5 and 2.6 and can't find it... sure it's there somewhere?!

I can see under 'Settings', 'Advanced File Settings', there's an 'auto-convert text fields' option set to on, hopefully this is the one, we'll give it a try.
