Available from 2.9 onwards, users can specify a "Delay warning action" for each Scheduler task:
in case a task is delayed for more than a specified time ("Warn if delayed by" option), the user defined warning action will be executed before the main action.

You can use this functionality in conjunction with "Skip if delayed by" to abort the main task also.
