New: Linux server version (2.8+)

After much demand, Omniscope 2.8 is now available for Linux servers.

We are initially supporting 64-bit Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS and later, and the 64-bit Amazon EC2 AMI.

We are currently not supporting Omniscope Viewer/Desktop nor the Omniscope Server desktop interface. We are only supporting use on systems without a graphical environment, where Omniscope Server runs as a "headless" service. So, for now, Scheduler Task Lists must be configured on another system using a Server+ Edition spare key and the XML Task List configuration files either transferred over to the Linux box or saved in a shared folders.

As per other systems, a license activation key will be required. In this case the key is entered using commands entered into a terminal.

    Troubleshooting Linux installation:
    1. Modify the _launch.sh shell script (found it in the visokio-omniscope install folder) and add these 2 additional JVM parameters (edit JAVA_VM_PARS variable) :
    -DAppSetting_DIAGNOSIS_TOOLS=true
    -DsaveAllBugReports=true
    2. Restart/reactivate Omniscope through command line ./omniscope-server-headless.sh -activate=XXXX script, and wait until it silently terminates.
    3. Omniscope will save a bug report into the "Visokio Error Reports" folder (usually located into the user home directory), containing all the info needed for diagnostics. Send the latest saved error report (HTML file) to our support email.
    4. Revert the changes in _launch.sh file.
