Global Variables vs Unique to Tab and Formula Behaviour by Tab

Variables have separate values on each tab, is it possible to set them to be global so changes are reflected in all tabs?
Also formulae can be calculated "for group result values" or "grouped over field results" but this has to be set for All formulae. Would be good to be able to calculate specific formulae over the grouped results on a table.
