We would like to download the file from the website but it requires us to login. After login, a new webpage will be shown and we have to click on the link to download the file.
Do we have any feature to support downloading automatically without waiting for someone to login and download the file?
Thanks for the question. Unfortunately this isn't possible at the moment. You can specify a username/password for a URL file, but the URL must point directly to the file you want to download.
If the website provides a library that allows us to connect programmatically to the website data this is normally the best way for obtaining data. For example, in the Google Analytics connector we use the Google Analytics library, provided by Google, to connect to and retrieve data.
If the website does not provide a library then this would be quite difficult, we would effectively have to simulate opening a browser window, entering the username/password and submitting the request. This may violate the websites term's of use and would not be an ideal solution.
I think it would be best to tackle these situations on an individual basis, so we would need to assess how we could connect and retrieve the data. We may also need to speak to the website owner. If a new Omniscope connector was required this may also incur a cost depending on the demand for the connector within our user base.
Mon, i've de-categorised this from an idea, as it's not some generic functionality we can build; all websites are different, so we need to discuss this requirement further with you outside of the scope of this forum.
