At the moment, if you sort on a field that is Grouped, the sort occurs at granular un-grouped level and hence is not useful for the end-user. I find that I hardly ever use the grouping functionality because of this.
Can we make it so that when you click on a column that is grouped the sort occurs at the grouped level and then when you expand the table (and click again) the sorting will then occur at the expanded level?
This functionality, although simple, would make a massive difference in terms of usability and report design impacting on almost all of our reports.
Ariel - At the moment, the work-around for this is to use Aggregation, rather than Grouping. The trade-off is that although the file recipients can see sorted aggregate rows, they cannot not expand them. You can, however, 'nest' aggregations within grouping, such that aggregation/sorting applies down to a certain level of transformed rows, then switch to Grouping, which provides ultimate granular row drill down.
The Idea is valid, but is a major, rather than minor change that will probably have to await a re-architecting of the Table View.
Thanks Tom, as long as it is in the pipeline then more than happy to wait.
I'm aware of the work-arounds regarding aggregation but once the Table View is adapted for this functionality in grouping it will make a major difference for us.
