I'm running windows 7 64 bit with office 2010 64 bit version.
Bloomberg is installed on this pc, but cannot communicate with excel 2010 as the links have not yet been built by bloomberg.
I have a separate version of office 2007 with just excel installed and the bloomberg add-ins work with this. I have cheked and can pull data into excel 2007 usung the blloomberg BDP function.
Omniscope fails to connect to Bloomberg and gives the error message "Unable to load Excel Bloomberg libraries" which suggests it is trying to invoke the Excel 2010 version
Is there a way to force omniscope to use a specific version of excel when there is more than one version installed on the PC. In this case to explicitly tell it to use the excel 2007 that is installed?
We need to investigate how Omniscope behaves when you have more than one version of Microsoft Office installed on your computer. Is it possible for you to remove your Office 2010 64 bit installation to check that it works when just Office 2007 is installed?
Microsoft to not recommend that you have more than one version of Excel installed.
We have added added an Application setting that will allow you to specify which version of Excel you want Omniscope to use. To set go to: "Settings > Advanced > Misc > Excel version" and select the version you want to use (in this case "Excel 2007").
I have ticked the Excel 2007 option but there still seems to be a problem - Bloomberg say they will be releasing beta of 64 bit add ins in July - probably best to wait for these and see how it works.
It is still reporting "Unable to load Excel Bloomberg libraries"
I have bloomberg add-ins installed in excel 2007. I can use the bdp function to pull in data in this version - however the bloomberg ribbon is not present and has to be activated by reloading the BloombergUI.xla addin every time I open excel 2007 ( even though it says the addin is already loaded).
Unfortunately Microsoft says it doesn't support 64 and 32 bit installations on the same machine, so I guess I should be grateful that anything works at all!!
