VARCHAR(MAX) columns not supported?
  • starsky51 May 13, 2011 8:31AM
When I bring a varchar(MAX) column through from one of our SQL Server 2008 databases (using the jtds driver), the column values come through as empty strings. If I cast the columns as varchar(8000), the data comes through correctly, although some rows are truncated.
Is this a limitation with the jtds driver or with Omniscope itself?
    We are currently using Build 2.6-alpha b557 (13-Mar-2011 22:52:03).

Please try the latest version of Omniscope 2.6 (b631). It is possible this problem has already been fixed. Post back here with the outcome.

We experienced the problem with varchar(max) columns using Omniscope, but a recent versions (b611 and above) appear to have fixed this.

Hi Steve, Guy. You're both right. The latest build has solved this issue.
    Thanks.
    Dave.
