Excel Output - Numbers stored as Text Problem

I am getting an issue that whenever I publish an excel file, it is coming out with Numbers stored as text. I've tried converting to number then resaving the file and republishing the ouput but I keep getting the same problem.
I am using xlsx publisher and Omniscope writer (the excel direct writer was giving me an error).

I think I've found the issue. I had set a pivot table in the excel file to 'refresh on open' (under options). That seemed to cause the issue, I've switched that off and I can now use Excel Direct as a writer.
With Excel Direct, I do not get the formatting issues however I have to now get the user to manually refresh the pivot which isn't ideal but fine for a workaround.
