There have been some changes to security with Java 7 update 51 that have affected webstart.

If you are hosting your own pages to start webstart then ensure you are using the "signed" Omniscope jar available from the Visokio downloads page.

We also recommend updating the code for detection of Java to correctly identify Internet Explorer 11, see http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/comment/8756/#Comment_8756 .

Clearing the Internet Explorer 11 cache also helps in this case.

Can you tell me what browsers and platform you have been experiencing this with ?
Also are you are hosting your own webstart page or using a custom jar ?

We have the tried all the actions mentioned in your post but none has worked.


We are using Windows 7, 64 bit version and testing the application on chrome, IE and firefox.

We create the link as:

This was working well until the latest Java 1.7 update 51 patch.

We have never required a signed jar before. Do we need to include it from now on?
Also I am not sure where the signed jar file needs to replaced, is it the webserver or the omniscope server?

If you are using the link generated from http://tc.visokio.com/webstart/ then it is already using the signed jar which is hosted on the Visokio webserver.

We have been unable to reproduce the error that you are experiencing and will need to setup a screen sharing session with you to go through this in more detail.

Would it be possible to use another browser such as Google Chrome which will download the launch_0.8099949611350894.JNLP file so that you can try running it directly from your pc ?

I would expect to see a Java 7 splash window then the "Do you want to run this application" dialog box with Name: Start, Publisher: Visokio (UK) Ltd, Locations: http://downloads.visokio.com http://tc.visokio.com

We have managed to diagnose the problem.
We use a proxy server for external connections.

Java 1.7 update 51 was not picking up the browser proxy settings whereas the previous versions were. Due to this the jnlp files keep getting the 'Unable to load resource' error.

We have had to manually configure the proxy settings for Java to resolve the problem.
