Performance: Migrating from 2.7 to 2.8 found major issue?
  • Alexander     Alexander September 4, 2013 9:30AM
    Hi all,

As we are upgrading to 2.8 we are currently testing running all our processes on version 2.8.
One particular DataManager block operation is really slow in 2.8, whereas in version 2.7 there was no problem.

I isolated the problem in the script. I would like to send the file to you. Please let me know who to contact.

I am joining 2 .iok files on 1 field. See printscreen. image

    Hi Paola,

This is really a showstopper at the moment. Hope I hear soon from you.

Alexander, please bear with us - we're working on it.

Meanwhile please try opening and saving "Basis calc B Groep OUT.iok" in 2.7, which should cure the problem for the short term.
  • Alexander     Alexander September 5, 2013 10:14AM
    Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reaction. As "Basis calc B Groep OUT.iok" is a product of a complex chain action construction, switching to 2.7 is at this moment not really an option.

So we will wait for your solution.
    Thanks

    Alexander,

The problem is introduced by repeatedly appending data, and is due to some non-essential metadata about a field being allowed to grow indefinitely.

We've fixed it for the next build, 2.8-beta b1097, which will typically be available from tomorrow morning. Please confirm the fix, which will need to be installed on all parts of your data processing chain.

    Steve

Great news, can we just run the script againg, or should we save the "Basis calc B Groep OUT.iok" first?

Just upgrade all Omniscope instances that process or open this file, and re-run the chain.

Thanks! This is a really big difference! Thank you
