Idea: Most Dashing Dashboard competition?

Hi all,

Some Data Visualization and BI websites have dashboard design competitions.. it could be interesting also for us since we are a growing community of Omniscope users, to explore the possibilities with some "shareable" data. There are already some sources such as the Demo data-sets, but it could be interesting to also create a bigger library of visualizations created with Omniscope.

Maybe the winner could get a personal Omniscope license? In any case, it could work as a PR tool too.

The usual structure is to provide a sample data-set + a brief and a deadline. It could be fun...

We love the idea and are happy to sponsor a competition....
Deadline for the first competition:
30th May 2013

Data Sets:
You can use your own data or data from open data sources, such as:
http://datacatalogs.org/
http://www.guardian.co.uk/data
http://datamarket.com/
http://www.quandl.com/

Criteria:
- Problem-solving and informative story-telling using Omniscope
- Black belt technique: use of both transformation and visualisation tools
- Style: most beautiful interactive dashboard/presentation

Prizes:
- Gold Omniscope Desktop license key, for personal use (worth £2,500)
- For the runner up: Box of hand-made chocolates from Harrods, or Amazon vouchers

Best entries will be listed on the Visokio website, and authors and their companies will get credit...

Following several requests, we have now extended the deadline for our competition to 30th June 2013, so users can take advantage of the new 2.8 features...

With regards to this competition, we've had lots of interest, but then faced few teething problems, where entries either didn't arrive on time or had data that couldn't be shared or were in breach of some other rules...
We will be launching a new competition soon, hope you will be happy to participate??

Perhaps standardise the competition by asking for entries to use some pre-approved data sets to avoid the shareability issue?

Perhaps theme the datasets and point of the dashboards to industries i.e. opendata/environmental/government/education/healthcare/etc
