Hi all - I've studied the Omniscope licensing agreements for a while and I'm not sure of one thing. Is it true that with Desktop Edition we are able to process our own data in Omniscope and provide them to clients in form of .iok files, which they can open with free Viewer ie. clients are paying for our data and Omniscope is only a way how to present them (our core service are our own data). On the other hand is it not permitted (with Desktop version) to charge clients basically only for processing their own data in Omniscope (our core service would be in this case loading the clients data into Omniscope and creation of dashboards).
Did I understood the situation correctly or not? Are somewhere clearly stated the permitted ways of commercial usage according to the Edition (Desktop/Server/...)?
Michal - Omniscope licensing distinguishes between providing an analytical service whereby clients' own data is processed and returned, as part of a a broader service being rendered, like advertising services, media planninng etc. and pure commercial data publishing, where clients are buying data they do not have already have rights to and these similar purchased data feeds are being delivered to more than 50 different organisations using Omniscope IOK format, rather than say, relational database formats.
Your organisation is classed as providing an analytical service, since each data set is delivered only to one specific client organisation, and that client has rights to most of this data anyway.
There is no difference between Desktop and Server Editions when providing an analytical service, only greater automation and more file security options using Server/ServerPlus Editions.
