Preselection for Viewer
  •     Mees November 26, 2009 8:06PM
    Hi there,

I have made a selection in my iok file and saved the file. When the user with a Viewer version of Omniscope opens the file, it opens based on my selection.
Now, the user can make additional filtering selections. However, resetting should always return to my selection and not to the complete basis of the file.
Can you let me know what the possibilities are?

    Thanks, Arjan

    Arjan,

The Reset button resets to unfiltered. I suggest you publish your IOK file with all tab modifications committed. Then, in the Viewer, you should be able to revert any changes you make to each tab. You can do this using the Tab menu, right-clicking the tab itself, or by clicking the tab name again.

    Steve, thanks for your reply.
When I use the revert option in the viewer, it blanks the whole tab and I need to close and re-open my iok again to get back to my visual.

    Hope you can help
    Regard, Arjan

"Revert" reverts to the last-committed state. So make sure you commit your tab as you like it when publishing, then when viewing, "revert" should go back to that state.

    Steve,

I have found an issue with the Revert changes option. I have end users using the free version that hit this accidently, when meaning to use the filter reset option. What it will do is reset the page back to the previous committed state as you suggest above. This does not make since for the free version for end users. Why is this option available in the free version, as it seems to be confusing our end users?

    Thx,
    Brian

Brian, one of the purposes of "Revert" is to allow a fully-committed file to be used with viewers, allowing them to explore a file and easily revert to the published state.

You need to ensure you have committed all tabs before saving your publishing master, though.

Thanks Steve, I was not properly using the commit buttons. I'll make sure to use this functionality before publishing a master.
