Date/Time: Display/filter on symbols for Quarters?

I often duplicate the date field (coming in daily) to create week and month fields by changing the date format output to "ww,yy" or "MMM." It would be great if there was a date symbol for quarter that would easily allow for quarterly rollups. This function is already available in the aggregate menu under "Smart Date Labelling," but would be nice as an option for all date functions added here: http://www.visokio.com/dates-and-times

Hi...I have searched for quarterly date functions and never found them.

We have a project, which is repeated quarterly and I would ideally like to automate the moving averages of throughput and market share to even out seasonal fluctutations.

A t the moment I have been using hand-written quarters as categories, which is not really an optimal solution. Does anyone have any ideas?

Quarters are often defined other than Jan-Mar = Q1, etc., for a given business. Hence they are not supported directly.

It's easy to use a formula for standard quarters:
IF([Date]=null, null, INTFLOOR((NUMVALUE(DATETOTEXT([Date], "MM"))-1)/3)+1)
