I'm looking into the possibility of using your software to establish a user and computer floor plan model. We have floor plans that we maintain manually using MS Paint and Adobe Photoshop. We would lke to automate the floor plans from data stored in our inventory system. Do you have any examples of such an application using your software. We wish to have changes to the inventory database be reflected in floor plans where in when one places the cursor on the doghouse into which the computers are connected all kinds of information on the computer and the user will be shown in a balloon / box near by.

Sheridan - Yes, we know of a few clients who use Omniscope specifically for this (and much else besides). One global investment bank track their entire PC inventory worldwide (and all the applications on each PC) in Omniscope. I will try to get a 'sanitised' example for you to look at. The first step is to import scanned images of each floorspace as Map View backgrounds:
Map View: View Toolbar: Map > Browse for image or map file
then create a floorplan coordinate system for each floorplan using:
Map View: View Toolbar: Map > Projection,
Once each scanned floorplan has been co-ordinatised, you use the Map View mouse in 'Place Marker' mode to drag/place each record/batch of records in the correct location on the co-ordinatised floorplan (the x and y coordinate data fields will be automatically calculated and shown in the table). These floorplan-specific coordinates for each device/record can be added back into the inventory system.
Multiple building locations can be keyed to markers placed on the zooming street-level mapping standard in Omniscope.
Sheridan - Here is a simple example of what you are asking for. This takes just minutes to do, assuming you have a scanned image of the floorplan. Enjoy! Tom
Ok - I looked at the sample and it is very close to what we want to do. How do I activate the 30 day demo so that I can create demos of our area based on our data?
Sheridan - Every download comes with a free 30-day trial of Desktop, which can create files and import images, etc. After 30 days, your installation will revert to a free Viewer which can interact with existing IOK files, but not change them.
I did not realize that there was additional work to do to activate the 30 day free trial (i.e. copying codes back and forth, etc.). I just went through that and it appears to be set up now. So off I go to try it out.
