Can't re-format dates/times
  • checkyourfuel     checkyourfuel August 10, 2009 9:05AM
    Hi,

I have a file with a Date column populated with dates/times in this format: 2009052500 = Year Month Date Hour.

I tried to reformat to yyyyMMddHH and yyyyMMddhh, but neither worked.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for your help,
    James

    James,

I created a new IOK file and pasted "2009052500" into a blank field. I then tried to convert it to dates, using the pattern "yyyyMMddHH" and this worked. Perhaps there are some invalid dates in your data. When you try to convert and you get errors, copy the erroneous dates back here.

I could do that, too...copy and paste into a new IOK file...and that worked for me, but I have 275k rows of data that I need to manage. I shouldn't have to copy and paste from one file to another.

    Ok, I found the problem/solution.

Omniscope had enabled the "Show thousand separator", which I unticked...and that rendered the data readable by the Date/Time converter.

    James,

Thanks for reporting this. It's one of several conversion-related niggles we now are aware of and hope to address soon.
