    Question,

    Is it possible to only show values on top of the bars and not inside the stack?

    If you are talking about the value labels showing the sum/mean/whatever for that bar/stack, then, no.
    If you are talking about the names of each stack/bar, then yes, this is configurable independently.

    I have reclassified this as an idea: ability to independently control which numeric values are shown.

    This has now been implemented in 2.8 b211 onwards. The option is located right under "Show value labels" - called "Show stack value labels".
