Is there a way to fix the "Total Row" to the bottom of the table when using the 2.8 Pivot Table?

Is there a way to manually adjust the column width? For example, the Y pane title column (the grouping column), or the X pane title columns (the measures column)

My thoughts are to first allow the addition of one or more check box columns to a table where individual rows can be set to use different options. Depending on whether a check box is checked or not checked, then that condition instantly affects a calculated field which in turn can display/hide data in that row and change summary information.

A check box is far easier to use than editing a field of data with a double click. A single click in column header check box auto includes or excludes all rows. A single click in one or more check boxes in a row, gives an instant what-if result.

As an Example on sales planning. Key account effort can be focused on separate accounts to varying amounts and the outcome seen instantly.

Additionally, as well as including a check box it would be good to be able to include a slider control into a table column. This can then be linked to a value field such as 'projected likely sales % increase/decrease', and let the user easilly vary likely gains by adjusting key account records one by one. The check box could be used in combination with this to set other conditions.

This seems like a simple addition with many benefits

For example:
Data connector (with options to change) -> 5 blocks -> 1 block where things need to be adjusted -> 5 blocks -> publish block

Here I could just group the 2 sets of 5 blocks to make things far simpler (5 block instead of 13) and it would be obvious which ones need to be changed.

Hope that makes sense!]]>

I have just upgraded my Omniscope license to ServerPlus and am keen to get it set up to automate all my reports. However, at first glance it does not appear to be possible to make it work in the way I would like.

Specifically, I need to be able to update and publish specific blocks within a file, instead of updating all or publishing all - in particular the publishing. For instance, I have daily reports that I provide internally to my colleagues, and weekly, timestamped reports that are sent out to clients. They both contain the same dataset (different templates though) and are published from the same DataManager file, but obviously I don't want to be publishing the weekly reports every day as, among other things, they would clutter up my server.

So what I need to know is, is this possible? I have looked through the documentation and I find no mention anywhere of updating/publishing named blocks. Any help would be much appreciated.

It would be good if we could add the Publish date/time in the title/header or in the bottom. Then the users who browse to the link can verify whether the report is up to date or not by themselves.

I understand that at the moment we cannot universally deactivate this function but that we can hide fields from views on all tabs - this is ok, but leaves the "Show record details" as totally redundant.

Ideally we would love to be able to disable this function - the LESS IS MORE principle. Is this idea feasible? And how soon could it be introduced? Thanks and have a great weekend - Phillipa]]>

Of course "this same field " is a circular reference, not a valid formula field reference. So, the best I can figure out is to use two Field Organizer blocks. In the first block I create a new field, let's call it [field2], with a formula:
VALUE[field1] / 100.0
Then in the second block, I delete field1. Is that the best solution, or is there a better solution?

Idea: Metadata extraction from IOK files? http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/1411/idea-metadata-extraction-from-iok-filess Thu, 22 Mar 2012 06:05:04 -0400 steve 1411@/discussions
Since this discussion began, it has been partially implemented with the following architecture:

  • An Omniscope Server XML action describes the request for metadata.
This can be executed in the scheduler or watch folder, or through command-line invocation. In future we plan to update the Server/Scheduler to also provide a network-based API (perhaps HTTP/REST), and perhaps a corresponding Java API for use in a 3rd-party application, potentially in a different process or on a different server, which provides a Java facade for that network API.

  • You "execute" that XML action on a licensed Omniscope Server, permissioned to access that IOK file (the IOK file must not be locked by another license).

  • The metadata is returned in a publicly defined XML format. This is either written to a specified file or to the process/console output.

The metadata comprises the bold items in the list below, with non-bold indicating possible future additions, to be implemented depending on complexity and usefulness.

  • Data structure:
    • Column count, row count
    • Field names, types, null/non-null count, min/max/mean/median/sum/std dev/range, unique values for category fields, first 100 unique values for text fields, default function, formatting etc. and formulae
    • Formula analysis: dependencies tree, formula structure, recalc settings
    • Named queries

  • Tabs:
    • Names, advanced types
    • Titles, annotations, branding
    • Thumbnails (if introduced into IOK files in future), as base64-encoded data
    • Colour and style settings
    • Active filters

  • Views:
    • Types, aggregations, subsets
    • Headers, footers
    • Content view's content
    • Some view settings
    • In-use fields

  • Branding:
    • Cover, back and help pages
    • Branding/logo images, as base64-encoded data

  • Data sources:
    • Referenced sources (types, summaries, file/urls)
    • DataManager model (block names, types, dependencies and file paths)
    • Edit actions repeated on refresh (e.g. ad-hoc merges)
    • Global auto-refresh settings

  • Origin / other:
    • Creator details / version
    • Window size when saved, and restore option
    • Version compatibility requirements, if available
    • Viewer empowerments
    • File security options
    • Compression options, file size
    • Configured image sets, links & web services
    • Last edit/save dates
    • Publisher details

Related ideas:
  • Extend the "Folder of file metadata" data source to include the more simpler information from the list, allowing you to obtain this data in IOK format for a batch of files (complete)
  • A GUI front-end for some of the analysis, e.g. formula dependency graph, in-use / not-used fields
  • A document containing the above information in report form

I've added a Variable in DataManager that is populated from a field - if I then update my data source to add new values in this field, it doesn't update the variable, only the initial list is populated?

What are your thoughts on having the Variable automatically reference this field each time the data refreshes, especially if it has been done in DataManager and the user refresh has just populated from a field and not added/removed values after populating?

This seems to be wasteful. For example, we recently created a field with circular reference and then deleted it, and yet we were getting a circular reference error every time on opening the file until we manually removed the steps in data manager.
So if I renamed a field 20 times will all the renames be repeated? If I changed the formula 10 times and deleted the field in the end, will my refresh take time to calculate all 10 useless formulas?

If the answer to any of these is "yes" then it would be extremely helpful to have an "Optimise" button that removes all the unnecessary operations. For example, remove all the operations related to the field before its deletion, only leave the last formula change and rename etc.

Idea: Map view navigation http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2110/idea-map-view-navigation Thu, 25 Apr 2013 10:06:50 -0400 ygulla 2110@/discussions Generally speaking, I suggest making it similar to Google maps. More specifically key functionality should be:

- Mouse wheel can be used to zoom in and out of the map. The screen moves proportionately to cursor position.
- Clicking on a node selects it
- Dragging the map is interpreted a panning
- Dragging with Shift pressed is interpreted as rectangular/lasso selection depending on settings. This behaviour can be seen in Bing maps
- If the map is in focus, arrows can be used to pan it
- There should be an option to show an overlay navigation menu. This should be set at the report creation stage.
image
The overlay should include zoom level, panning arrows, zoom to fit data and zoom to fit map buttons. Current Navigator isn't as easy to use, takes quite a lot of space and cannot be opened by default. (Earlier version Omnicope screenshots suggests that this was implemented before?)
- Hover graph should be shown regardless of other settings (currently it doesn't work in pan mode)

Note: I'm basing this on my experience in 2.7. I had a quick look in 2.8 and it seems to be still the same.]]>

Also the auto-complete filtering suggests values that are not valid for that tab as these values are not part of the selected subsets and queries applied on the views of the tab.
