A formula field (Stack by) then links their selection to the Y axis. It is working well with one slight snag - the ordering of the options in the selected field is coming out alphabetically and not as in the original field. It does not appear possible to change this.

Does anyone have workaround to this problem?

Idea: Enhanced devices - categories and dividers http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2825/idea-enhanced-devices-categories-and-dividers Wed, 21 Jan 2015 10:29:28 -0500 CRead 2825@/discussions - some users want to control variables and filters (power users).
- other users want to control filters only (simple users).
- a third set of users only accesses the report occasionally, and wants filters grouped by purpose (geography / business unit / time).

So we have variables and two each of geog/bu/time filters which can be shown on the devices view / RHS sidebar.

Idea:
- allow the insertion of spaces / line breaks.
- allow colouring of devices by group and adding group titles.
- allow devices groups to be collapsed.

Even if I use a different device view for each group of devices, it doesn't allow me to collapse them neatly, which is often necessary given screen size limits.

Ideal use case (see attached illustration):
- key device groups and/or filters are expanded when users open tabs.
- superuser device groups and/or filters can be expanded when users wish to utilise them.
- device group titles and colours/breaks quickly communicate what filters are for with less need for instruction.

If there are a lot of devices, or width is at a premium, then using dividers would allow devices to be separated slightly so the above could be achieved visually to some extent.]]>
Bar/Line View: Daily sales compared month on month? http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2807/barline-view-daily-sales-compared-month-on-months Thu, 08 Jan 2015 07:02:56 -0500 cristian 2807@/discussions I have a bar chart displaying all day of the month 1,..,31 on the x-axis and sales value on y-axis. I would like to split the bar chart and have two bars per day where one bar displays the current month, that is latest loaded month, and the other bar displays last/previous month sales. All other months are not of interest.

Example of my data structure:

Date, YearMonth, Year, Month, Day, Sales Amount

Any suggestions on how to do this?

Using a tab name to set a variable (this came off the idea of a different post about tab names http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2680/idea-tab-links-accept-variables-for-resolving-tab-linkss)

IF(
Tab= "Tab_1", SetVar [VariableName] = "VariableOption1",
Tab= "Tab_2", SetVar [VariableName] = "VariableOption2"
)

OR using a variable to set filter conditions:

IF(
VariableName= "VariableOption1", set field filter [PostcodeSectorField] ="HA",
VariableName= "VariableOption2", set field filter [PostcodeSectorField] ="WC",
)

Also to use existing premade queries:

IF (
Tab= "Tab_1", Use Query state = "QueryName1",
Tab= "Tab_2", Use Query state = "QueryName2"
)

At the moment Omniscope only gives us the frequencies of 1's - i.e. we can’t get it to calculate the proportions automatically.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

My thoughts are to first allow the addition of one or more check box columns to a table where individual rows can be set to use different options. Depending on whether a check box is checked or not checked, then that condition instantly affects a calculated field which in turn can display/hide data in that row and change summary information.

A check box is far easier to use than editing a field of data with a double click. A single click in column header check box auto includes or excludes all rows. A single click in one or more check boxes in a row, gives an instant what-if result.

As an Example on sales planning. Key account effort can be focused on separate accounts to varying amounts and the outcome seen instantly.

Additionally, as well as including a check box it would be good to be able to include a slider control into a table column. This can then be linked to a value field such as 'projected likely sales % increase/decrease', and let the user easilly vary likely gains by adjusting key account records one by one. The check box could be used in combination with this to set other conditions.

This seems like a simple addition with many benefits

Formulae: Variable values not updating? http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2227/formulae-variable-values-not-updatings Wed, 03 Jul 2013 07:04:41 -0400 rborobia 2227@/discussions
We detected that when we create Variables in formulas and then changed the value, this value is not updated in the formulas (keeps the first value and the variable must be removed and re-create).

For example, create text-type Variable "var" with value "a".
Then change the value to "b", but the value being used is still "a".

I'm using Visokio 2.8 r1025.

I've added a Variable in DataManager that is populated from a field - if I then update my data source to add new values in this field, it doesn't update the variable, only the initial list is populated?

What are your thoughts on having the Variable automatically reference this field each time the data refreshes, especially if it has been done in DataManager and the user refresh has just populated from a field and not added/removed values after populating?

Thanks,

I've got an iok file with a couple of tabs and a category variable that is used to define the values to be shown in a couple of charts. I recently removed a few choices from the variable and now when I move from one sheet to another I get the above error message referencing a choice that I've removed. Does anyone know if this is a bug or whether it's likely the variable (and the choice I've removed) is hard-coded somewhere obscure, and if so does anyone have any suggestions where to look or how to debug it?

We can only view and use Variables within the Data > Manage Fields or Formula interfaces? This does not seem to be wholly convenient since we appear to lose any formulae when we load Omniscope from a new box.

It would be most helpful if Variables were accessible within the DataManager > Field Organiser > Use formula field so that they can be preserved.]]>
Variables: Switching measures for multiple charts on a single tab http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/1002/variables-switching-measures-for-multiple-charts-on-a-single-tab Wed, 21 Sep 2011 08:43:11 -0400 AndyS 1002@/discussions I have a tab with 4 pie charts, split on categories with a single measure; I'd like the user to be able to switch the measure for all 4 charts with a single action, rather than having to switch it for each chart independently. (Ideally, I'd like this functionality on any combination of views within a tab)

The first tab of "Retail-Coffee sales" demo serves well as an example of what I'm trying to achieve - I'd like to be able to select "Sales ($)" or "Total Bags" across all four charts with a single action.

Is this possible?

Thanks,
Andy]]>
