Since datasets we are elaborating are growing up in dimensions quite rapidly, we have now changed the configuration in a way that the virtual memory used can be extended up to 32Gb and the number of virtual processors can be extended up to 8, if these resources are available (not used by other virtual machines) on the physical server where the virtual machine is installed.

We are now running some large .iok file update for testing the new server configuration, but till now Omniscope has always used at most the usual 16Gb of memory and, sincerly, I do not think that the problem is that there are no other resource available.

I'd like to know if there is a particular set up to perform to let Omniscope see and use the new available memory and processors or if anyone has experience to share about using Omniscope on virtual server.]]>
Performance: 64 GB RAM Server does not release memory to OS? http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2767/performance-64-gb-ram-server-does-not-release-memory-to-oss Tue, 25 Nov 2014 05:17:06 -0500 Alexander 2767@/discussions
We have a server with 64GB RAM running Omniscope server 2.9.
During one of the tasks, memory peaks at 98%. After this task we run a diagnostics task, but memory is not released.

The performance of the Server and other Omniscope instances is slow, as the RAM keep showing up to 90%.

Any advice, what we could do? Thanks]]>
Performance: Managing disk cache size & location? http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/1290/performance-managing-disk-cache-size-locations Fri, 10 Feb 2012 04:54:25 -0500 mburgess 1290@/discussions
i have had the message that action cannot be completed because not enough disk space from Scheduler

Will this be because 5GB is not enough or 55GB is not enough (memory in use by javaw.exe was just over 50GB just before i got the message).

My question is essentially can we increase the D drive or add more hard drive space internally for visokio to use or does it need to be on the C drive?

Thanks, Matt]]>
Performance: ETL - Is Bulk Insert Possible? http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/1865/performance-etl-is-bulk-insert-possibles Thu, 25 Oct 2012 10:56:13 -0400 kattasureshkumar 1865@/discussions
While importing and validating the records we had not faced any performance issues, but while inserting these records to Oracle Database tables, we are facing performance issues. It is taking around 8 Hrs to insert 2 Million records on 64 Bit, 4 GB RAM system when we use the "DATABASE OUTPUT" block.

I suppose the tool is using manual/one by one insertion commands. Please let us know if we can do bulk inserts using this tool so that the performance when inserting large numbers of records can be improved.]]>
Scaling & Performance: Database tables/OLAP cubes? http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/1738/scaling-performance-database-tablesolap-cubess Thu, 30 Aug 2012 04:48:28 -0400 mburgess 1738@/discussions
If I used either database table or OLAP cube to read data into Omniscope how would this cope with 100 million or so records with a similar amount of fields?

I am also aware 2.8 version is meant to be focussing on performance - have there been any significant developments in data load or are you looking more at processes cross records (aggregation, sort, subset functions etc) for optimisation. Thanks Matt]]>
