Filtering: 'Apply to all tabs' option in Free Viewers

In the Free (empowered by opening Server-owned IOK file) Viewer, Is it possible to have selection filters which apply to all tabs?

We'd like to have the same option 'Apply to all tabs' from the Tools Menu of Devices, that exists in the Server/Desktop Editions.

Filtering: Hide columns with "no value" in Chart View

Hi,

Is there any way of hiding columns that show no value in the Chart view?

I can hide no values in the side bar filters but when I split by these fields the no value always appears as a big ugly column
and it is not possible to deselect "no value" as this would affect other paramters.

Performance: Tab taking too long to load/display?

Hi All,

For one of our clients we developed a dashboard. The dashboard has a limited dataload, yet the performance is less then we expected. Tabs are taking several minutes to load, and filterings need more time to load as well.

I would like to know what the cause is of this lack of performance. Hope you can help me investigating this issue.

Filtering: Yes/No Filters converted to exclusions?

Hi All

When I have yes/no filters ticked on an Omniscope tab and then go to settings "Freeze Visible Fields".

Then I click on another tab and go back to the original tab the yes/no fields get converted to exclusions.

Why is this ?

Filtering: Maintain filter selection across tabs?

Is there a way to maintain selection between the tabs? If I select anything in any tab I would like to have exactly the same data set displayed in all of them. Also if tabs have common filters but different data sets can we do the same ?

Filtering: automatically hide all empty colums in Table View

Hi,

I would like to be able to automatically hide all columns which are left completely empty or full of zeros by the query currently in use in table view. For small numbers of columns it would be possible to manually hide columns, but ideally they would be dynamically hidden and restored as I changed the query (i.e. if I was changing the query/filters in such a way that unpopulated and repopulated certain fields).

If this is not possible, being able to select something like 'automatically hide this particular column if it's empty' would help.

Please let me know if such a feature already exists.

This is similar to an idea raised a couple of years ago (http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/comment/6796/#Comment_6796), but nothing from that thread seems to help me.

Filtering: Named Query diagnostic incorrect?

Please see attached, seems to be showing a wrong setting than the actual query setting. The query is set by the "Account Movements" filter where the value set is less than or equal to -10, or (no value). But the text description is =-10 or (no value)

Filtering: Category field in Desktop shows as Text field in (Web Start) Viewer?

Hi all,

We publish a dashboard to one of our clients using a template that we save elsewhere using the Scheduler. In the file action we have the following steps:
- Refresh from source
- Unlink from source
- Save IOK

In the source file the field is a Category type. In the template the field is also a Category field.
After the Scheduler action I opened the saved IOK file, and the field is (as expected) a Category field.

However if we deploy the same file using Web Start, the Java free Viewer opens to show the field as a Text field with an "search text" filter option.

This behaviour seems to be new, but I am not sure since when. How can we show this field as a Category filter even when we deploy in free Viewer using Java Web Start?

Tabs: Advanced Tab Settings in browser versions?

I'm using advanced tabs option to create tabs which mirror previous tabs' filters, but when using the browser version option in 2.9 the advanced tabs no longer mirror the first? Is there a way I can keep this setting on for mobile deployments?

Filtering: Dynamic record counts on filtered data?

Hi

I have a large dataset of 400k records over 12 months, by supplier, by product, by outlets. What I would like to get to is "Product A is in 50% of the outlets, over 12 months. However in August it was in 80%" from the dataset.

I can separate out the data in a chart that ranks the products by volume top to bottom over the past 12 months. I have used Unique_Count to get the number of outlets that are stocking Product A which is great but I want to divide this number by the total number of outlets in the dataset and have it change if I was to select one month, or 2 months (i.e. filter).

Filtering: Resetting query before loading data?

I set one filter to "Restrict to single value". As soon as I load a new file for the analysis I get the error shown in the attachment.

I can press "Reset" button and solve it. However, a user with only a free Viewer cannot do that (?)

Is it possible to "reset the query" before the data is loaded for the user?

Hi,

I have a medium sized data set ~2500 records. My filter is a checkbox filter (I can select any number of records, filter field is non-repeating text). The idea here is to make this filtered data a subset as I want to perform some operations on this filtered data.

The end goal is to assign a rank to each record of this randomly selected subset of data. So, if an additioal record is selected, the ranks may change based on the field value of the new record.

Hi,

I intend to perform some basic calculations (mean) on a subset of the records in a table. I used Subset_Mean(field name, RowIndexSubset). However, it returns a null value. The RowIndexSubset is calculated properly (verified it using Subset_UniqueCount).

The main idea is to get the top 10% of the total records and then calculate the mean of the values in a specific field. This total records will change based on a filter selection (this filtering is working fine).

Filtering: Single click for collections of values?

I have one filter based on field and it is working fine. If I select one or all of them data in the table is getting filtered.
I need to create a filter in such a way that I can select two values like 2014-Q2 and 2014- Q1 with a single click and data should filter based on that. Please see attachment for more details.

Idea: Specifying and exporting queries from free Viewer?

Hi All
We have an external supplier that uses Omniscope to present that database to us with limited user interfaces to limit the chance of any data leaking out etc (Confidentiality). We use there reports to interrogate their database and then filter it accordingly. Previously we have sent them screen shots of the filters we have applied to get to certain views of the data.
Is there a way of exporting not the data from a report but just the applied filters to the dataset?

Hi,

When building the query in omniscope, is there a way to exclude value rather than select all values.

Let's say we have a field with values : null,A,B,C,D,E,F

I am deselecting value null, so we have A,B,C,D,E,F left only. Next I am building the query based on filters so in xml I am getting :

Rather than having this I would like to state something like :

but I am getting an error saying that value needs to have "=" sign and it can't have "!=".

For now I need to build a new query whenever new value comes in, otherwise it doesn't work as it is selecting values which were selected in xml previously.

Formulae: Calculating different queries in a Formula

I use Content View and I have created 2 different tables in the same tab, which change dynamically according to the filters and all the data in the tables retrieved by formulas.

On Table 2 I have kept the data isolated from specific filters, but in some rows I would like to do some additions and subtractions by using the data from Table 1, but when I write down the same formula from Table 1 to Table 2 I get different results, which makes sense because Table 2 uses the whole data.

Question: Is there any formula which is able to maintain a specific query or filtered data within?

Data type: Integer, Date or Category

I have two dashboards. Both have a Period (month number) integer value that is selected from a SQL Server DB. Both fields are integer values in the database and both fields are set as Category types in the field organizer of both dashboards. Both are set as category filter types. However, one is in numeric order 1 thru 12 the other is 1,10,11,12,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. Any ideas of what I could be missing?

I want to filter a list contains a word " CLO " i.e with blank SPACE in front and back but Visokio won't let me do it, it uses "CLO" without spaces as the only input. Is there any wildcard character to do this??

I have been searching this using below Excel forumla:

Idea: File level Reset button?

Is it possible to have a global overall reset button? This would reset all (un-frozen?) Sidebar filters in all tabs. Now you need to open each tab and reset the filters. Too time consuming sometimes.

Hi there,

We recently noticed that DataExplorer contains legacy information regarding historic source files when hovering over a filter field in the filter panel. I can imagine this can be useful, but more in a DM development environment and not in DataExplorer where people are using data without knowing anything about the workflows underneath.

How can we disable this as in our case it is showing information we do not want to share.

Filtering: Resizing width of Side Toolbar filter devices?

At the moment I cannot find a way to resize the side toolbar an show the full name of the fields inside the filter devices.
I know that if I hover with the mouse a tooltip appears, but it could be annoying having to wait.

Can you make this toolbar resizable like the other views?

Bar/Line View: line selection/filtering on double-click?

Hi, I observed that if the user double clicks on a line in a graphic chart (line chart) the view becomes filtered for this selection, resulting in a filter blocking issue. To unblock it, the user has to cancel (refresh) the filtered view and re-apply the 'official' filter, and it's a nightmare for users.

Is there any way to avoid the line double-clicks from filtering in graphic charts?

Filtering: Global Filters

It’s possible to have selection filters which apply to all tabs, i.e. if you select a time period on the first tab, advanced tab settings in all the other tabs will automatically select the same time period.

Open the existing file, and from

Tab > New select Copy of current tab (advanced)

You will be given the option to set this new version of the tab to use the filtering settings on previous tabs by un-ticking ‘Filter states’

Hi - The actual functionality allows a user to save the settings for only one Omniscope filter at a time, creating a separate exportable/importable XML file with the filter configuration. Because normally a model/scenario needs to impose/return several pre-defined filter settings at a time, I suggest adding a new option to allow a user to save in one operation a selection of filters, naming the combined/shareable XML file with the name of the model or scenario.

This would also be useful for saving/returning a file to the 'official' settings of all the filters on a tab or view or by groups.

Filtering: Unexpectedly changing from original configuration?

Hi....I am supplying pre-configured files to clients, but after some cycles of data refresh, changes in views and management filters, I'm seeing some troubles with filter settings;
- Some filters randomly change from the configuration I set up initially...
- Sometimes, the filters lose completely their configuration...?

As the result, the user loses data or a lot of time identifying what's happening, or open an support issue. Is there any workflow to protect or to change the 'official' filters we set up at the begining in automatic mode and in the IOK open process?

Hi All, I was wondering whether you could assist and I will try to explain the best I can as there is a fair bit to this.

I have a set of data with a "Unique ID(1)". This "Unique ID(1)" can have multiple Customers assigned to it and all attributes for the Customers under the unique ID(1) should all be aligned.

One of the attributes assigned to the Customer, is another "Unique ID(2)". I would like to filter where we have conflicting "Unique ID(2)" values under "Unique ID(1)".

So Unique ID(2) <> Unique ID(2)
This could be where the ID is populated and not equal or one is null and the other is not.

I would not like "Unique ID(1)" to be present in the report if its count is just one. In addutuib the "Unique ID(2)" is not a mandatory field, so if it is null, again I do not wish to see this.

I am able to present data where conflicting and null, but this does not meet the criteria above.

Filtering: Replicated joint query devices (2.8+)

Starting from 2.8 we have added the ability to replicate the following devices by clicking the plus (+) button in the Devices visibility picker which is accessible from the Devices button on the Sidebar toolbar, or from the Tools > Devices tab.

Devices which can be replicated:

Search All
Custom search
Saved queries
Yes/No fields

Replicated devices work in the same way as if you had the same query device making a different query. However, both queries are combined together using the AND operator. They provide the same functionality as the original filter device box i.e. you can rename, expand/collapse.

Replicated query/filter devices execute joint queries. For example, if you create two "Search All" devices, one renamed to "Search All 2", and you search for "Alpha" in one device and "Beta" in the other device, then Omniscope will search for data which has both Alpha and Beta anywhere within the same record.

One example of how you might use this is to group different sets of Saved Queries in order to be able to create custom filter devices.

Another example is creating multiple Custom Search devices, one searching a set of address-related fields, another searching a set of name-related fields.
