Security: Owner locked IOK inside an ILF file: Copying allowed? http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2762/security-owner-locked-iok-inside-an-ilf-file-copying-alloweds Thu, 20 Nov 2014 08:53:48 -0500 Alexander 2762@/discussions
Inside an ILF file, we load an IOK file. The IOK file contains table views and pivot table views.

We can copy to Excel from the Pivot View, but from the Table View, this is not possible.

What are we doing wrong? Just a setting perhaps?

Export: disabling 'Export view data' for some users? http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2366/export-disabling-export-view-data-for-some-userss Mon, 07 Oct 2013 05:27:14 -0400 DominicChan 2366@/discussions
Can you advise if its possible to disable the "Export View Data" function for some users (either by making a different report or by Password rights)? We are getting a good handful of new end users, and we will like to make sure the new end-users dont get to export any data at all to Excel.

Is this possible? Please advise with some instructions.

Thanks a lot,

Security: Overview of Omniscope file-based security options http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2228/security-overview-of-omniscope-file-based-security-options- Thu, 04 Jul 2013 14:31:20 -0400 tjbate 2228@/discussions
It is good practise to always time-limit IOK files containing important data. If the files fall into the wrong hands, even if they are unlocked and otherwise unsecured, the proprietary Omniscope encryption and compression should hold the unauthorised users off the data for a few days until the IOK file 'times out', at which point no one can gain access to the data, no matter how much hacking they employ (assuming you use the Omniscope option to set the files to confirm the date/time independently from an Internet source outside the machine running the file. If you don't use this option, time-limiting can be defeated by changing the system clock on the machine running the file).

The best security is multiple, independent, layered security spanning both network/identity based, and file-based security. Omniscope permits file level security options to be added on top of network-based security to achieve multi-level security you can tailor. Omniscope file security options are outlined here:

http://www.visokio.com/file-security

Running analytics and reporting projects on instantly-available virtual, cloud-based, high-RAM machines makes a lot of sense, but many are reluctant to do this because they fear that their data in the cloud can be stolen. If you use an SQL database as the source in the cloud, this is much more likely than if you use a set of Omniscope IOK files as the source, provided you fully employ the range of layered independent security options Omniscope supports.]]>
Security: personalised & role-based file security and distribution? http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/1907/security-personalised-role-based-file-security-and-distributions Tue, 20 Nov 2012 08:46:06 -0500 ZhouNan 1907@/discussions
Currently, we are trying to figure out a security plan for our new project; and it involves the version selection. We already got desktop license; but it doesn't seem to be enough to provide solid security.
I have gone across the Feature Matrix against versions; and there are two points which I want to dig more on.

1. Includes Scheduler to automate file actions e.g. updates from source data, refresh of server-side Source IOK 'datamarts', and personalised file distribution.

2. Advanced file security options including HTTP web server authentication, domain-locking of files, 'walled gardens' based on license keys issued, etc.

I will just ask questions around those two points:
1. Is personalised distribution based on user's domain username(windows username)?
2. Can role based/group based security be implemented in either Server or Server Plus version or both?
3. In terms of server side source IOK, is it possible to wipe the data loaded from Source IOK at the user end after when file is closed? Is it related to the concept of Domain Locking?
4. What does domain locking can produce specifically?

Overall, what we are trying to achieve is to prevent every single distributed file holding the data; and ideally user shouldn't be able to export the data. Please give us some suggestions based on the requirements, so we can purchase the license and get started quickly!

Many thanks!]]>

Anyone have any experience of this?

Also, does this relate to a standalone Omniscope file or a Server-based approach. I understand that a Server-based solution is possible with Omniscope although I have only ever used the Desktop Edition of Omniscope. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Export: File security and export to Excel options http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/1322/export-file-security-and-export-to-excel-options Mon, 20 Feb 2012 04:00:56 -0500 Mees 1322@/discussions Export to Excel is possible in case a user has a paid license on Omniscope.
When opening an iok file via Java webstart, the Viewer that opens doesn't provide the export option.
This is normal behaviour, but it would be very useful to enable us to give users with a paid license the export functionality in the web start viewer.

We often get this question and cannot deliver as we use webstart.

Just sending the iok file directly would solve the problem, but then we loose control over our file. In addition we monitor the usage of webstart and we loose this as well when sending the file directly.

Is there anything you can do to help?

I'm creating multiple IOK's from a batch file which I need password protected and domain locked.
For some reason, even when I specify the IOK templates password in the batch file I get the message:
"The password is not available".

Could you let me know where I'm going wrong?

Am i missing a column out in the batch file or is it just the password column needed? I checked that i had the correct password so that's not the problem. Also if I domain lock the template IOK's will that then filter down into the batch output iok's?

Quick one. I wanted to domain lock an iok file but in version 2.6 i cant seem to find an option for it. On your website it says for 2.5 go to save as and tic the box which says domain lock but there isn't one in 2.6.

Could you direct me to where this option is in 2.6 please?
