The data source is an excel file on sharepoint. They have all the access levels they need to get to the file in sharepoint.

I have an IOK file, created and saved using our fully licensed server, aimed to be viewed on a mobile phone, set to refresh automatically, where the data feed is just a iok output which is refreshed and saved down every 15minutes.



However, it doesn't refresh. I have looked through some of the previous threads in the forum and applied the settings as discussed.



Am I doing something wrong, please advise if there are other steps I need to take?

I was wondering whether anyone has experienced a similar situation, and what a solution might be.
Last night our scheduler performed a chain action. One of the tasks is a file action, (refresh and publish).

The file action has 3 main sources, combined in joins and append operations. The output only contained data from 2 of the 3 sources. When executed again this morning, the result was as expected containing data from all 3 sources.

I have set-up a job to pull information from different Salesforce tables, combine and then publish this data. The template works and the data is updated and published as expected however when I try to schedule the task it shows the attached warning.

Oddly the data is still published when the task is tested but the job will not run when scheduled. I have also set-up an email notification for when this chain action fails however I am not sent an email even though this process has also been tested.

Any suggestion on how I can get this to update daily as needed?

I have a series of DataManager blocks and at near the end of the series i am joining various streams of blocks together by a merge

Whenever i update the merge (either by changing the join criteria, adding fields etc) the whole upstream data gets refreshed in all the other blocks.

Is there any way to stop this, i do not want it to refresh data when nothing has changed, I just want to update with my new fields in the join criteria

I'm looking to update a SQL table daily with new data. Obviously an Append would do this job if the data to be added was always only new data.

The problem comes when some values from previous days have been corrected or updated and these also need pushing to the same database.

I have a solution that compares the last few days data (from the database) with the same number of days from the source and if it's new it Appends, if it's corrected it Updates. The solution is adequate if a bit slow for large data sets as it appears to publish line by line and requires the last few days from the database to be pulled back into the Omniscope process.

My idea/suggestion would be to include another option in the Database output block that uses the Merge command.
If anyone else has solutions for this that work better please let me know. Not sure if this is possible or even has enough people wanting it?

I've set the IOK to always refresh on startup, as per the screenshots below. For some reason though, the IOK doesn't refresh when a new XLS is placed in the folder prior to opening it. Am I doing something wrong or is the Viewer not able to auto-refresh data anymore, despite being saved in Mobile Server?

I've added a Variable in DataManager that is populated from a field - if I then update my data source to add new values in this field, it doesn't update the variable, only the initial list is populated?

What are your thoughts on having the Variable automatically reference this field each time the data refreshes, especially if it has been done in DataManager and the user refresh has just populated from a field and not added/removed values after populating?

In the refresh data model process, sometimes the variables loose the default or minimum value, however a message like I've attached is shown. Is there any mode to avoid this issue?

In the refreshing process, we have issues updating from the database. The issues happens in heavy queries or heavy views, resulting in a no coherent model at user interface level.

Could be the asking database time the cause. Is there experiences managing the updating interval for solving this kind of issues?.

The experiment was, open the IOK without data and refill it using the standard method suggested in the documentation.

Preparation:

- Open a IOK file (wich is connected to a Mysql server Database) without data (tools/advanced/debugging/open without data). As result the model is empty (the model has up to 500.000 rows).
- Database updtate connection for each block (up to 10 different blocks) is configured as update when needed, It is checked and works well.

Test1: When the IOK without data opened I inserted CTRL F5 (update from source) and after a while it only bring up 12.000 rows.

Test2: Then I pushed the icon in the tool bar of datamanager tab, called 'update all', as after a huge time (up to 1/2 hour) the result was up to 500.000 rows.

I'm wondering what I do wrong, because the standard user workflow is CTRL F5 seems not guarantee the correct upto date of my model.

Please could you help me to understand the correct way to users can refresh data in autonome mode and what is the difference between two methods?.

I have added the file, using the single sheet I need to publish, but the refresh function does not refresh all pages and not all data on the sheet I need to publish are available in Omniscope. Do you have a suggestion how I can make this work?

About refreshing data in iok files, I understood that only registered copies of Omniscope can perform it (on opening or on-demand). The only way to make available refreshed data to unregistered viewers is to save and distribute updated iok files with a registered Omniscope (or save the iok file on a shared directory where unregistered viewers can read it directly).

Using registered Omniscope Desktop Edition it's also possible to use 'automatic refresh' for updating data in real time, but only when the IOK file to be refreshed is open in Omniscope (and these updates are still not visible to unregistered viewers till the file is saved).

If I understood right, with Desktop Edition it's not possible to schedule a 'massive' data refresh when iok files are not used (for example during the night in a way to have them updated and available for viewers next morning). The scheduled updating procedure and live refresh to free Viewers is only available in Server Editions?

When I refresh the Source manually from the Omniscope window, (Tools -> Update Data) the data is refreshed correctly.
When I use the "Refresh" Button on the Omniscope window, it also refreshes correctly. When I use the "Update All" button, Sometimes the data is refreshed, sometimes the Database error occurs. When I save and Reopen the file, then it works.
Qn: Why is the Data Refresh from the same source show such inconsistency?

When the iok file is Scheduled to be refreshed (Refresh from Source), it always fails and throws an ODBC Error.
This is the Error message from the Scheduler
..

To resolve this, I have to select "Update Stale" and the blocks will update, often resulting in a block further down the workflow to become stale, where I have to click "Update Stale" again and repeat this process 4-5 times to update the whole workflow.

Thanks for your help with my other posts, all have been resolved splendidly.

I have a new issue now where data is being refreshed using the refresh button, but all formulas in the data explorer get blanked out. To get the formula to refresh I have to either open an existing formula box and click ok without making changes => all formulas refresh, or click on 'recalculate all fields'.

I have multiple copies of this file and it's only one on which this happens, I feel like there's a check box that needs checking but I've not found one. I've looked at the 'Recalculate on Open' fields and all the formula fields are checked... what am I doing wrong?

At a high level - I have an input from a DB with some filters set up for calls for a service desk. I use the Field Organiser to add in 4 additional fileds - These will be Y/N tags for quality of certain fields in the DB. Loads into Omniscope no problem.
I then go into Omniscope and see all the data and the new fields. What I do then is get someone to look at a Table View and add a Y/N into the new columns. So far so good. I can report on them as usual.

But when I next do a refresh from the source data - naturally the information I added in Omniscope is not there and so everything is overwritten. What I want to do is find a way to 'protect' the data I add in Omniscope from not being over written... but cannot find out a setting of filter on how to do this? Any advice?]]>
