I have set-up a job to pull information from different Salesforce tables, combine and then publish this data. The template works and the data is updated and published as expected however when I try to schedule the task it shows the attached warning.

Oddly the data is still published when the task is tested but the job will not run when scheduled. I have also set-up an email notification for when this chain action fails however I am not sent an email even though this process has also been tested.

Any suggestion on how I can get this to update daily as needed?

Linux Headless Server/Scheduler - Unable to read data from database http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2736/linux-headless-serverscheduler-unable-to-read-data-from-database Wed, 01 Oct 2014 14:04:01 -0400 Veaceslav 2736@/discussions Unable to read data from database errors on a headless Omniscope server or scheduler running on Linux.

If you can run Omniscope Desktop on your machine, you don't need to follow these instructions. Instead, you should run Omniscope Desktop, open your file, go to Data Manager and expand your database block. A dialog should be displayed asking you to locate your database driver. Select the jar file, re-load your data and save the file.

Note: Database (jar file) drivers should be downloaded from the official website distributing the driver.

If you cannot run Omniscope Desktop on your machine to configure the driver from the UI (e.g. you have a headless Linux machine) then you should follow the next steps:

1. Check whether you need to specify a driver location
  • If you already know that the driver location is wrong or missing, go to step 2.
  • If you get only 'Error Unable to read data from database' without any additional details, you need to check whether the driver location is the root cause of the problem.

    a. Edit {OMNISCOPE_INSTALL_DIR}/_launch.sh

{OMNISCOPE_INSTALL_DIR} is the directory where Omniscope is installed

Change JAVA_VM_PARS property to include both AppSetting_APPSETTING_REPORT_RECOGNISED_ERRORS_AS_BUGS and AppSetting_APPSETTING_REPORT_DATABASE_ERRORS_AS_BUG, leave all other JVM flags unchanged.

    E.g.
    JAVA_VM_PARS='-Xms64M -Xmx1100m -XX:MaxPermSize=128M -XX:MinHeapFreeRatio=20 -XX:MaxHeapFreeRatio=50 -XX:NewRatio=8 -XX:+UseG1GC -DAppSetting_APPSETTING_REPORT_RECOGNISED_ERRORS_AS_BUGS=true -DAppSetting_APPSETTING_REPORT_DATABASE_ERRORS_AS_BUGS=true'

    b. Run your tasks again
At this point you should get more details about the error and it should look like this:

...driver JAR file location not specified. Please reconfigure this legacy file's database connection in the desktop application.

2. Configure Omniscope to use a specific driver
My example shows how to configure Omniscope to use a MySQL driver. Other database types are very similar.
  1. Download MySQL JDBC driver from MySQL website.
    E.g. http://dev.mysql.com/get/Downloads/Connector-J/mysql-connector-java-5.1.33.zip
  2. Unzip, get the jar file and put it somewhere on the machine running Omniscope scheduler
    E.g. /home/visokio/visokio-omniscope-2.9-b1200/lib/mysql-connector-java-5.1.33-bin.jar
  3. Edit {OMNISCOPE_INSTALL_DIR}/_launch.sh again
Modify JAVA_VM_PARS property to include the JDBC driver location and remove the flags added at step 1.(a)
    E.g.
    JAVA_VM_PARS='-Xms64M -Xmx1100m -XX:MaxPermSize=128M -XX:MinHeapFreeRatio=20 -XX:MaxHeapFreeRatio=50 -XX:NewRatio=8 -XX:+UseG1GC -DMySqlDriverSearch_driverDir=/home/visokio/visokio-omniscope-b620/lib/mysql-connector-java-5.1.33-bin.jar'

Note: Here are property names for the other databases (make sure you prepend a '-D' in front of the property e.g -DMySqlDriverSearch_driverDir):

IngresSqlDriverSearch_driverDir
MySqlDriverSearch_driverDir
OracleThinDriverSearch_jarFile
PostgreSqlDriverSearch_driverDir
SqlServer2008DriverSearch_jarFile

These steps configured Omniscope scheduler/server to locate and use database drivers when running in headless mode.

Note: If you configure your file on one machine, then use it on another machine, the driver needs to be added manually on the second machine, otherwise you will get the 'Unable to read data from database' error.]]>

Please restart Omniscope and try again.". This message is also thrown when Omniscope (in stead of the scheduler) errors. We run version 2.8 b1187

This is causing serious problems as our scheduler tasks are not competed and iok files not refreshed.

Can someone please support us on this?

FYI on the same server, but with another user we also run 2.9 b779.

We opened the .iok file on the same Omniscope server where the scheduled process runs (Omniscope Server version 2.8 b1216 is installed) and looks like that trying different online page settings (xga, svga, ..) does not have an impact on the Scheduled process behaviour.

In the attached file, it is possible to see an example of the different layout observed: when produced manually from the .iok file, the table reported is completely visible; when produced by the scheduled output process the table is not completely visible.

It seems to me that scheduled process uses different page dimensions and configuration settings to produce the PDF file?

The desired result is obviously to have the same PDF output in both production methods: manual and by scheduled process.]]>

Follow the instructions for installing Omniscope on Apple Mac OSX
http://www.visokio.com/kb/mac-installs

Start Omniscope and enter your license.
Omniscope will prompt to restart once the license has been authorised.

The Settings Server menu will only show menu items once a valid server license has been authorized.

Select the Settings menu, select Server, select "Omniscope Server ..."
image

A warning message will be displayed saying that the Omniscope Server will take over the current Omniscope Window, select "OK, start anyway"
image

The Omniscope Server window will be displayed.
Mobile Web server will display a network error as it cannot use port 80 unless run as root.
Change the Mobile Web server ports for http to 8080 and https to 8443 by selecting Config.

image

Omniscope Server is now running.
Select Exit to exit the server.
image

The following two command files will allow you to start Omniscope server directly, the first command file will run the server with the server control window GUI, the second command file will run the server without a control window.

Save the files and rename the extension from .txt to .command

Or use a texteditor and save the following command as OmniscopeEnterprise.command

NOTE: change the memory to match your system, this is set to 6Gb -Xmx6144m for use on a system with 8Gb of RAM installed

1) In your service directory

"OMNISCOPE_INSTALL_DIR\service\"

Create 2..N folders s1..sN

2) In each directory create config.xml file
and set different/correspondent port and configurationFilePath:
E.g.:

From Omniscope 3.0
set CONF_DIR=%1
"OMNISCOPE_INSTALL_DIR\OmniscopeEnterprise.exe" "/jvmarg=-DschedulerConfigLocation=OMNISCOPE_INSTALL_DIR\service\%CONF_DIR%\config.xml"

4) Start schedulers using run_scheduler.bat and passing folder names s1, s2, ... sN as a parameter:
E.g.:

run_scheduler.bat s1
run_scheduler.bat s2
...
run_scheduler.bat sN

You can do it into two ways.

a) You can create Shortcuts. Right-click on your Desktop->New->Shortcut.

Specify the path to your run_scheduler.bat file and pass the parameter, for example on my computer it is:

"C:\Users\michael\AppData\Local\Visokio Omniscope app\run_scheduler.bat" s1

b) Alternatively you can run the command from Windows Console - cmd.exe

5) In C:\Users\YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME\scheduler\log.txt you should see log messages from all schedulers.

You can use attached files as templates replacing (here it is text in bold) with your current file paths
and then renaming
config_xml_tempalte.txt => config.xml
run_scheduler_bat_template.txt => run_scheduler.bat]]>
Scheduler: Fields do not exist error? http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2488/scheduler-fields-do-not-exist-errors Fri, 07 Mar 2014 09:32:09 -0500 SimonWiggins 2488@/discussions
Basically it seems to think there are fields missing when it comes to publish later in the flow.
Two of the fields aren't there as they are deleted further up in the flow however Keyword is a field present at the end.
There are no erroring formulas further up or warnings when run manually.

The error is pasted below:

Error publishing block "Data file output 9"

Detailed information

Invalid fields: Fields do not exist - cannot execute:

Date
Campaign name
Keyword

Is this a known bug or something I've failed to notice?
Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

I found I can rebuild the offending flow from scratch exactly as before and this seems to remove the error (although it appears from a different flow and publish block).
Obviously I want to avoid having to rebuild the entire report block by block.

I would assume the blocks retain a certain amount of past configuration information as if I change a flow higher up and then change it back later it remembers some aggregate settings etc.
Could this be the issue and is there a way of clearing past configurations?

Thanks

I would love to be able to copy all my XML files to the watch folder at once and trust that they will be processed in the correct order. Currently, I have to do it in two lots as there is no guarantee it will happen this way.

I am aware I could write more XML files which deal with all of my .iok files at once, and I may do so in the short term, but this is still something I would very much like to see if possible.

Is this request feasible?

In order for the new configuration to be reflected, we have to restart the Service.

We are using Version: 2.8-beta b1018 (Jun 26, 2013 6:28:42 PM)]]>
Idea: Scheduler - Publishing outputs at different times? http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2222/idea-scheduler-publishing-outputs-at-different-timess Tue, 02 Jul 2013 12:24:35 -0400 alec_webliquid 2222@/discussions
I have just upgraded my Omniscope license to ServerPlus and am keen to get it set up to automate all my reports. However, at first glance it does not appear to be possible to make it work in the way I would like.

Specifically, I need to be able to update and publish specific blocks within a file, instead of updating all or publishing all - in particular the publishing. For instance, I have daily reports that I provide internally to my colleagues, and weekly, timestamped reports that are sent out to clients. They both contain the same dataset (different templates though) and are published from the same DataManager file, but obviously I don't want to be publishing the weekly reports every day as, among other things, they would clutter up my server.

So what I need to know is, is this possible? I have looked through the documentation and I find no mention anywhere of updating/publishing named blocks. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!]]>
Scheduler: Launch from Desktop? http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2180/scheduler-launch-from-desktops Mon, 03 Jun 2013 15:16:59 -0400 cgamolo 2180@/discussions We just upgraded to 2.8-beta b952. Where is the option to Edit tasks for the Scheduler? I only now see "Edit Settings" but cannot access the list of tasks. We are using the same config.xml file as before and this has content. We had the same problem running Omniscope and we solved it adding the following line in the installconfig.properties file:

ADDITIONAL_JVM_ARGS=-Dvisokio.disableCustomProxySelector=true -DenableProxyDebug=true -Dvisokio.disableSystemProxies=true

Later we also tried to restart the Scheduler Windows service but nothing changed.

How to solve it? Do we also have to add this line to some scheduler configuration file?

Thanks
