My join in DM joins two fields whereby values are equal, except for the fact that in one file it is all lower caps and in the other it is both small caps and caps.
Example: "Omniscope" should join with "omniscope" and "omniScope"
I assumed I should use the functions Accent sensitive and Case sensitive in the Merge/Join block, but unfortunately this doesn't work like this.

Can you please advise?
Thanks

It can sometimes be difficult to select a single record. If "show details" of a number of records from one of the charts then click to display a single record, that record is not selected. There is however a "Highlight" button at the top of the record - could there be a "publish" button as well?

SQL Server 2008 http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/344/sql-server-2008 Thu, 01 Jul 2010 09:59:20 -0400 aknotts 344@/discussions
I'm running SQL Server 2008 R2 on a Windows 7 64-bit machine on which I have Omniscope 2.6 b300 installed. I also have MS Office Pro 2010 on this machine. I add a Database table to the pallette in datamanager I select SQL Server and then select SQL Server 2008. Then I complete the fields as required and try to connect and receive an error (see attached). I have tried with all SQL Server options and still cannot connect (jTDS etc). I have turned the firewall off on the machine, checked all the ports are still at their default of 1433 and still get an error. The only way I can connect to SQL Server is by downloading the SQL Server JDBC drivers using the JDBC (Advanced) option. The preferred route is obviously to use the SQL Server option rather than to install JDBC.

Can you confirm whether this is an issue or I need to change my config?

Thanks

Double read of database blocks http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/432/double-read-of-database-blocks Fri, 01 Oct 2010 15:13:12 -0400 Guy_Cuthbert 432@/discussions
1. Open a new DataManager
2. Add a Database block to the work area, next to the default Omniscope block
3. Configure the Database block to connect to my server (SQL Server, in this case) and define my query
4. Execute the query and load the data (takes 7-8 mins)

5. Link the Database block to the Omniscope block
6. Press Load... results in re-query and data load into Database block (another 7-8 mins) and then load the data into the Omniscope block (2-3 mins)

I can't see any reason for this?

Should I be limiting my access to the database by saving off a snapshot after step 4, adding an Input Switch and then using the snapshot until I want to hit the database again? Does this prevent a re-read?]]>
Date Format - Field Organiser http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/404/date-format-field-organiser Tue, 31 Aug 2010 12:48:32 -0400 aknotts 404@/discussions
I have a CSV data source and have loaded it in using Data Manager. I have a date field and the format is dMMyyyy ie the dates can be 31082010 or 3092010 (data manager see ths original type as integer). I cannot set this as a date field in Field organiser with a format of dMMyyyy as it will not parse the shorter dates so I have created a formula which prepends a zero to the front of the date field so they are all 10 characters long. If I set this formula to be a Date/time I cannot alter the Date format (input) to map the format of my data therefore I have to use string manipulation functions to set it to the format dd-MMM-yyyy. Is there any better way to do this or do I have to do it long-hand using formulas?

Batch Append mode for Excel data http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/334/batch-append-mode-for-excel-data Tue, 15 Jun 2010 10:36:47 -0400 Guy_Cuthbert 334@/discussions
In Data Manager, we have a File block and a Batch Append block. In the File block we can select to use Excel or not to read .XLS(X) files... but this option isn't present in the Batch Append block... which reader does Batch Append use? I ask because we have noticed that allowing the non-Excel reader to access the same file in concurrent operations (e.g. multiple File blocks reading from the same Excel file) can cause problems (looks like some kind of file locking?) - so we need to know whether we can read batches of Excel files reliably?

Incidentally, when opening a number of models I find that some File blocks are automatically opened and refreshed whereas others require me to go and press the Execute button within them (not change anything, just Execute). These non-loading bloacks all say "configuration incomplete", but pressing "Execute" is the only 'configuration change' that I make. Is this expected behaviour?

Thanks...]]>

If it is available for 32 bit only I understand these can now be installed side by side. Would I need to de-activate/ reactivate the license if I do that?

Field Organiser - thousand seperator issue http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/315/field-organiser-thousand-seperator-issue Wed, 19 May 2010 11:26:14 -0400 SteveP 315@/discussions
I can save the file, change the raw data, re-open the Omniscope file, and it is still all OK. But as soon as I go back to the DataManager tab, the changes to the integer fields are lost. All of the other field changes are still there (renames, calculations etc), but the integer fields have the thousand seperator option ticked again.

Any ideas? This is with build 262.

In 2.5 I used to have a side menu in bar chart view that enabled me to suppress the "other" option and to show all columns using a scroll bar (I often have up to 50 columns).

In 2.6 I cannot find this option any more. Where should I be looking?]]>
