Every day we run this API and some days map fine, but other days Omniscope struggles to correctly parse the results and omits columns of data that we need. I think this is probably because the URL query changes slightly each day- it’s not one, set URL because part of the URL changes with a daily “job ID” code. The data / response is in the exact same layout day to day. We’ve experimented with unticking the auto-recognise options under Parsing and haven’t yet found a combination that consistently works across different daily queries.

We can go in and edit the custom mapping to re-tell Omniscope how to correctly lay out the data, but are hoping there’s a way to ‘save’ these settings to work across daily requests rather than having them erased each time a new URL is entered and having to manually tick the checkboxes for row, column etc. So, essentially, my question is; Can we save our custom mapping layout as a template to apply across URL queries which, although they technically change daily, are all consistent in layout?]]>

Does anyone have the same issue?

We have now added a DoubleClick connector to Omniscope 3.

This connector contains all the functionality of the DoubleClick connector in Omniscope 2.9, with some improvements to performance and the authentication process.

If you would like to test this connector and/or you have some additional requirements for the new connector (for example adding support for additional report types). Please let us know.

In Omniscope 2.9 the Web, News, Image and Video search blocks currently use the Bing search service. On December 15th these will no longer work, as Microsoft has released a new API: Microsoft Cognitive Services Search.

If you are a user of any of these blocks please get in touch. We need to identify who needs these services in order to determine whether to develop a new suite of blocks in Omniscope 3.0. We also need to identify how these blocks are being used (what other blocks are in your workflow) to ensure a seamless migration.

Please email us directly to discuss this further.

The Facebook connector is not currently working in Omniscope, and as such is unavailable for the time being.

Facebook recently changed their permission model, meaning all applications need to apply to Facebook in order to access information such as user details and insights. We are in the process of applying for this, however the process is complex and may take some time.

Unfortunately we do not have a contact at Facebook who is able to speed up this process, however if you do have a contact and are able to help us with this please get in touch.

I will provide an update when there is any news.

We appologise for the inconvenience caused.

Connectors: Google Analytics API definitions http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2748/connectors-google-analytics-api-definitions Tue, 21 Oct 2014 11:37:57 -0400 panost 2748@/discussions
I have a minor bug to bring to your attention, the "In-market Segment" in the Google Analytics API is declared as "ga:interestMarketCategory" (see attached screenshot), when the correct definition is "ga:interestInMarketCategory"

https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/reporting/core/dimsmets#cats=audience

This is quite insignificant as I barely ever need it, but it would be nice if it could be corrected.
I am using the latest 2.9 b1474 (15/10/2014).

On another note, you might be interested in Google's MetadataAPI which provides always up-to-date definitions of columns:
https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/reporting/metadata/v3/
not sure if you can build it into Omniscope but it might make things easier between versions!

Also lastly I was wondering if in cases such as this it is possible to build manual patches into connectors, perhaps by editing config files or is there/will there be such developer functionality for connectors?

Many thanks in advance,
Panos

I was trying to get the DeviceCategory dimension, which was added on 12/12/2013, but definitions have not been updated from the depricated columns.

The one I have been looking at is this

"These dimensions and metrics have been deprecated.

Dimension - ga:isMobile - Use ga:deviceCategory instead (e.g., ga:deviceCategory==mobile).
Dimension - ga:isTablet - Use ga:deviceCategory instead (e.g., ga:deviceCategory==tablet).
Metric - ga:entranceBounceRate - Use ga:visitBounceRate instead.
"

...but there was another release last month, so if you could do a bigger update and incorporate those changes as well that'd be great!

Connectors: GoogleAnalytics updates/changes http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/2568/connectors-googleanalytics-updateschanges Fri, 23 May 2014 12:21:08 -0400 chris 2568@/discussions
In the next release of Omniscope 2.8 (b1248) and Omniscope 2.9 (1271) we have updated the GoogleAnalytics connector.

The following is a summary of the changes we have made:

  • We have changed the section order/names, for example "Visitor" has now become "User".
  • We have removed some deprecated metrics/dimensions, for example "Visitor type".
  • We have added several new metrics/dimensions, for example "Goal conversions", "App Tracking", "Audience" etc.
  • We have changed the names of some of the metrics/dimensions, for example "Search keyword" has been changed to "Search time". These changes have been made so that the names used inside the connector are now inline with the names used in the GoogleAnalytics website.

This has been a fairly substantial overhaul, and it may impact any pre-configured reports that use GoogleAnalytics as a source, particularly if you have specified any dimensions/metrics that have been removed/replaced.

Once the version listed above is available on the Visokio website please download and check your report output and if necessary re-configure any downstream blocks in your DataManager workflow to accommodate the changes.

If you have any questions or encounter any problems please let us know.

Dear DFA Customer,

We understand that you are a frequent user of the DART Java API and are currently using a version that will soon be deprecated. The Java DART API, long the bread and butter of integrating with our ReportCentral service, has a large range of versions currently in use. We are going to begin enforcing a minimum version requirement on this API on November 3rd, 2012. At this time, clients must be using one of the newest versions of the Java DART API -- version 13.4, version 13.6, or version 13.8.

We recommend you take this opportunity to consider the new DFA Reporting API. The DFA Reporting API is a language-neutral REST API that offers programmatic access to the same reports as can be generated through the DFA Reporting user interface. Along with improved speed and performance, the new API will allow you to create, edit, and schedule Standard reports. We will continue to launch additional features to the new DFA Reporting API over the next few months.

Please update your DART Java API version as soon as possible to ensure uninterrupted access. If you have any questions, please email dfa-support@google.com

Sincerely,
DoubleClick Advertiser Technical Solutions

Adding API Feed http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/1573/adding-api-feed Wed, 30 May 2012 17:09:57 -0400 alexhoward 1573@/discussions Connectors: Initiating new Connector development http://forums.visokio.com/discussion/1428/connectors-initiating-new-connector-development Wed, 28 Mar 2012 04:42:02 -0400 chris 1428@/discussions
  1. Access to the connector API. We need to ensure that the API uses technologies that are compatible with Omniscope. Most do, but some could stand improvement, which we can discuss with the data vendor.

  2. An initial set of requirements. The requirements should contain an overview of how the Connector should work and what data it should generate. An example specification might be something like:

"At the top of the Connector the user enters their username and password. The user then selects an account. The user selects a report. The reports initially provided are 'Timeline', 'Cost analysis', 'Custom'. If the user selects the 'Custom' report the user can select a series of metrics/dimensions. Finally the user clicks the 'Execute' button to get the report data."

  3. Access to a test account. We need to test the Connector with realistic fully populated data sets while we are developing it.

  4. An end user contact. During new Connector development, we may have questions about the functionality that are not covered in the initial requirements. We need an end user contact who can answer these questions and provide feedback during the development cycle.

  5. A technical contact. We need access to the data vendor API developer who can provide assistance should we encounter any problems with the API.

  6. We may need justification/motivation for developing the connector, such as external funding, or significant demand/votes posted on the Forum by existing and potential licensees.

Any reason why this has happened?

If you could provide any info on how to get them or why they are no longer available that would be great.
