It could show datetime but still not valid:

Follow the link the result will be: Jan 17, 1970 8:21:05 AM
Actual value should be : Tue, 17 Dec 2013 07:38:14 GMT

Moreover, when followed the method as suggested in the link, in 'Field Organizer' the data type still be integer. So we could not use this value to do the calculate in any datetime functions.

Other extensions (music & video) are opened in external application (Windows Media Player).

Is it possible show linked files (e.g. music & video files) inside Omniscope, in a Web view or other way?

I have an IOK file with aggregated data in it (due to file size/RAM limits). I have created a local link to another Omniscope IOK file which contains the details that I might need to see. Is there a way to configure the local link to pass a query to the other Omniscope file e.g. [Vendor Name] = 'Boots'

If this isn't possible on the link is there a way to do it?

Am interested to know the answer for both v2.5 and also v2.6 (as most of my customers are on 2.5 at the moment).

Looking to install Omniviewer on potentially 30 plus devices, some of which are remote, so we will be looking to do a silent administrative install. Moreover, because multiple users are looking to use it, we want it installed on C:\program files rather than the users local directory.

I read that the installer is based on NSIS - which as I understand it means that /S will install silently (which is fine), and /d=C:\program... will install to the specified directory. Unfortunately, the /D switch does not appear to be responding.]]>

I have read other posts about users processing more than 5.4 million records, so I think it is quite possible for Ominscope to process this large file I have, right?

I have also read http://www.visokio.com/kb/omniscope-memory-allocation.

My main question is: are there any guidelines on how much memory Omniscope needs as a function of records/fields. I realize this is probably one of those many "it depends" situations, but even rough guidelines (+/- 1 or 2 GB) would help.

If there are no guidelines, can I send you my .iok file (there are only 6 blocks: a File Source block, 3 Field Organizer blocks, a Record Filter block, and a Expand Values block) and a sample of the input file, which you can expand to about 5 million records (or I can ftp the whole file), and you can run it and let me know how much memory Omniscope uses?

In Omniscope, I wanna choose a number of portfolios and a date range, then compare portfolio performance through the indexes. how can I dynamically create a normalized index variable that starts at one for each portfolio and date range selected? e.g. for each portfolio and date range, I wanna divide the index vector by the first value?

Sources: Timeout on Email attachments feed....'last x days' does not work?

We use the email feed to automatically download attachements of emails that we receive via email.
In order to avoid unneccesary data load, I used the advanced setting "in the last 1 day". But this functionality does not seem to work. There are no emails selected, and without this advanced setting 4 emails are selected.

I've been trying to find a way to automate copying values down from above if the row is null.
The problem I have is that you can't execute 'for' or 'while' loops in functions in the field organiser (short of scripting)

For example in a column I have:

Data1
null
null
null
Data2
null
null
etc..

(where the nulls are empty cells)

I know I can use something of the form:

but the limitations of this are if the latest data is pulled in and has more than 6 nulls before a value is above then it will print the error. Obviously also it creates an unnecessary extra field and the old one needs to be deleted in a second Field Organiser. Obviously I could copy paste and edit it up to 100 or more but this isn't very elegant.

I know I can use the Custom Script block to write a JavaScript function and as such have been learning javascript but am having a hard time applying it to my problem.

My question is:
Is there an easy/elegant way of doing this in formulas that I have overlooked?
Or is it a case of using JavaScript to solve my problems?
Is it better done in a 'script' fomula or in a 'Custom script' block bearing in mind I want to do it for 3 columns and keep the rest of the data in line?

I've attached a sort of example of what I mean of some basic data and how I would and have solved it in the past but not copied the formula down long enough therefore it errors after 6 nulls.

Hopefully this makes some sort of sense to someone! Thanks in advance for absolutely any help!

Refresh: Maintaining value sort orders/shapes?

I'm using Data > Manage Fields > {field options}> Value order colours & shapes

It works fine during a session, but when I do data refresh the order disappear, and also the colours and shapes settings, because new data comes in. (I'm using a cache deletion in the data refresh...)

Is there any method to maintain the order and marker shape settings I made before the refresh?.

Freeze vs New tab settings

The combination between Freezing fields and the setting Filter status on tab level, behaves not as we expected.
I have attached a screenshot. When creating a new tab with the settings as in the screenshot, the freeze settings in other tabs are ignored. In my opinion, the freeze option is to force Omniscope not to change the filter settings no matter what. This is not the case.

Can you please let us know if this is expected behavior or not?

Can you advise if its possible to disable the "Export View Data" function for some users (either by making a different report or by Password rights)? We are getting a good handful of new end users, and we will like to make sure the new end-users dont get to export any data at all to Excel.

We recently noticed that DataExplorer contains legacy information regarding historic source files when hovering over a filter field in the filter panel. I can imagine this can be useful, but more in a DM development environment and not in DataExplorer where people are using data without knowing anything about the workflows underneath.

How can we disable this as in our case it is showing information we do not want to share.

Scheduler: Chains with PowerPoint output blocks?

We are facing issue in chains getting failed when any action contains Visokio file with PowerPoint output block in Visokio 2.7 Scheduler.

Note: when I run them manually from the Scheduler then it works perfectly without any errors.

Can anyone help me if we have missed any additional action to be added to get this published in time.

Tab Settings Bug Report

Attached file has four tabs, first is datamanager, then two have single histogram and last has a chart.
Tabs 3 and 4 are grouped together in a group tab called group 5.

Open tab quantity split and it shows a stacked bar chart
Now click Tab 5 and it changes tab titles to show the two tabs in it and displays the company split simple bar chart.

Go to menu item Tab
Select Tab settings>
Then Tab bar>
Then Each tab bar visibility

Level 1 and level 2 are ticked

Click "Apply to all tabs"

Then click anywhere on chart to make menu go away

Then go back to qty split tab and it has turned into the same chart as the company split.

I was just trying to get the tab/sub tab headings to be same on each sheet but it has changed all the chart details as well.

Edit: I've managed to figure out how to construct the dataTable to read data in from a for loop for 2 different array's of data and then plot it out on the scatter plot. The next step will be to link the Omniscope data into the arrays and see if it still works. Being able to do this will greatly increase the flexibility of what can be done on the front-end of the data explorer.

I've posted below the updated code that just demonstrates reading in a simple amount of data via a for-loop.:

Bar/Line View: Rendering issue?

When opening a tab with a bar chart view the labels cut off the bottom of the bars. Changing windows size or opening the tools will cause the bar chart to update and re-render the chart correctly.

However this is causing a real issue for me when I try to export to PDF as several of the charts are cut off at the bottom by the labels as per the attached image in the final PDF.]]>

I have created a file which is the result of a one-to-many merging process. The merged data looks like:
Italy,5,Rome,10
Italy,5,Milan,8
Italy,5,Naples,7
UK,6,London,15
UK,6,York,4
UK,6,Bath,3

I want to create a Table view that sums data at the "country" level.
For example, in a Map view I want to select UK and show in my table:
6 (UK value) ,22 (the sum of 15,4 and 3).

But if I select both UK and Italy, I want my table to show:
11 (6 + 5), 47 (all cities added).

At the moment, if I create my aggregate at the "country" level, in my table I have 2 entries:
5, 25
6, 22

While if I don't aggregate at the country level, my table shows:
33 (6*3 + 5*3), 47.

What am I doing wrong?
