Web View: SSL website 403 error

Unable to launch SSL based sites within the Web-View portal. A generic 403 'access denied' error message is returned.
Is there a specific network setting within the Omniscope that has to be altered? I'm using Destop version 2.8

The site is an intranet site & smart-card certificate is used for client authentication.

Exports: Database Tables - Syntax Error?

Hi guys,

I have been trying to migrate tables from one database to another and it's been going fine until receiving the following error. It states that there is a syntax error near "(" at position 100.

What does position 100 refer to? Also, I presume that a syntax error relates to the underlying command in the output block?

Please see the attached screenshot and let me know if you might know the cause of the problem.

Hello,

Is there a way to automate the export of screenshots in Omniscope? Basically, I have a file where I have pie charts. I want export about 100 different pie charts in png or jpg format to use in presentations. Ideally, I would like to say export the pie chart for all records that match this filter. The pie chart will be different for each individual record, as the underlying data is different, but I won't have to manually export the chart for each record.

I am using the Desktop Edition of Omniscope.

Data Mapping: Add Formula getting very slow with many lines

I'm using a very long list of IF functions for a particular report to group up some placement names into renamed categories, however beyond a certain point of number of lines, it will get quite slow and sometimes freezes the screen processing this.

Could this be looked at to see if whether there's a way to optimize it? I'm finding I am adding more and more lines to the IF function and it will get more unstable.

I think it's slow because it tries to apply the function as I try to rewrite it and keeps processing them in the background, perhaps there's a way to stop the processing part until I finish writing in the full set of IF functions?

RSS Feeds: Importing from Instapaper - cannot load feeds

Hi - I'm trying to import RSS feeds from Instapaper saved item folders, but can't seem to get them working. I've been able to do this successfully using other feeds (e.g. BBC News, Google News) but not with Instapaper. The feed below is an example which fails to load.

When I try to load this it times out with a network error ("Connection timed out: connect"). It also fails if I enter my Instapaper id and password after ticking the Requires Authentication box. I've tried putting these details into the front of the URL, but it just populates the authentication fields as before.

The Instapaper feed opens OK in a browser on my work PC (Firefox and Feedly) using and also on a colleagues machine (using IE8), so I don't think the feed is at fault.

Has anyone had success using Instapaper feeds, or seen any similar issues with other feeds that they've managed to fix? I'd be grateful for any suggestions you might have.

Date/Time: Custom "smart labelling"

My data have a data field with the years 2011, 2012, 2013 on a monthly base (Jan - Dec) and the first six months in 2014.

I want to show the spendings on the year base in the bar/line view, so I split on the date field and take the interval “1 Year”.
The result is that the bars are labeled by year and it is not clear that the year 2014 is not a full year.

My question is, if a custom labeling is possible? For example "2014 ytd" or Min and Max Values of this year: "01.2014-06.2014"

Scheduler Not Publishing Output Blocks.

Came accross an unsual issue:
With some of the larger files, we've noticed the scheduler is updating and saving the OIK. but not publishing the output blocks as requested in the task. (Task is set to blank, So should apply to all output blocks.)

Checking the logs one output block needed a password update, and some of the calculated fields return a divide by zero error ocassionally.

The password has been updated, and looking into adding extra logic so if the field is zero or null return 0 as value, but still not publishing on the scehduler only manaually.

Are they're any other settings that I need to check or change that can help with this. (changes to how the file process output blocks or logs / debug logs).

Hi there

Since a few days we have a strange error in Omniscope and our schedulers. The application stops working without any obvious reason. The message in the log is "Function unsupported. Please restart Omniscope and try again.". This message is also thrown when Omniscope (in stead of the scheduler) errors. We run version 2.8 b1187

This is causing serious problems as our scheduler tasks are not competed and iok files not refreshed.

Can someone please support us on this?

FYI on the same server, but with another user we also run 2.9 b779.

Export: Printing Exported PDF file with Map legibility

We exported a map in a PDF file and got the result shown in the file attached. The same map was perfectly readable when displayed inside the IOK file (as you can see in the print screen below).

Is there a way to obtain legible values in the round markers in the printed PDF version of the map?

Scheduler: Automatic refresh with missing file?

Hi, we just encountered a behaviour where a scheduled job has gone through a refresh of an .iok file despite the fact that one of the excel inputs was missing. I would expect the process to fail in this case.

Here's the relevant bit of the scheduler .xml file:

Export: Date/time formats to Excel on a new PC?

Hi

I face some issues with the date format. While all the dates are formatted properly on my Omniscope final box (dd/mm/yyyy), when I publish the file in Excel format, some of the dates change on text format (mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss) and the rest are still on date format (mm/dd/yyyy).

I started to face that issues since I changed my PC, I am telling that just in case there is an option I have to change.

Display: Displaying full 15 decimal place accuracy?

Hi,

I've run into a serious problem when working with numbers/decimals in Omniscope when pulling the data through SQL Server.

I was a little perplexed when I was dividing a large number by 100 and it kept rounding the output to 1 decimal place instead of two. So I went about making sure I use Convert(decimal) as well as Round to ensure I get both decimals. However it kept only returning the single decimal in a rounded format. I then tried several different data types and still sat with the same problem.

So I decided to run some tests by just doing my own calculations instead of pulling out specific fields (in case this was a DB problem)

A simple calculation of 100/3 which should return 33.3333333 returns only 33. So I converted both numbers to decimal and it returned: 33.33333
Success!

Then why did I still have a problem?

So then I tested 1000000/3 and low and behold it returns 333333.3 (only one decimal) and no matter what you do to it, it will not return a second decimal or more.

So then I tested 10000000/3 and it returned absolutely no decimals, which then lead me to the conclusion that you are limited to 7 characters when working with decimals in omniscope.

The size of the integer can keep increasing but you can't have decimals when it exceeds 7 character length.

I have attached a screenshot for your viewing to illustrate what I mean.

Please could someone help me with this, as the data I'm working with needs to be accurate to the decimals I specify.

Just incase someone suggests this: using Cast instead of Convert makes no difference, and infact works even less.

It seems even with SQL it does retain the precision and you don't require to run conversions on all the individual parts. I just popped a field organiser on and it seems to work.

Maybe a suggestion going forward would be for you guys to add in a option to use/not use this function on a datasource and an option for the user?

Text Processing: Google Analytics string aggregation/counts?

I'm currently importing web usage data from Google Analytics.

We currently have some features that pass some details in the URL (below is a very simplified example to illustrate my case)

Content View: Insert Multiple Subset Record Count into 1 Table?

Hi Team!

I have multiple source excels plugged into Omni, I've filtered them to get the desired numbers and then saved them as 3 queries.

"Number of Plans"
"Number of New Plans"
"Number of Closed Plans"

I'm currently making a table in Content View where a cell has a function inserted that will do RECORDCOUNT(SUBSET) and return the filtered number from my query selected, which works when the query is selected via data subset selection. i.e. Subset: "Number of Plans".

I was wondering how to get all 3 query numbers into one content view via a table/3 cells as I can only insert a formula recordcount(subset) and I don't know how to reference other queries.

currently I have got 1 content view per query and it looks a bit separated.

Pivot View: Pivoting by more than two categories?

I am pivoting by two (2) fields horizontally e.g. [Field 1] , which contains A1, A2 and [Field 2] which contains B1,B2

[Field 1] [Field2]

  A1
            B1
            B2
  A2
            B1
            B2

My problem is that if in the data there is no row which has A2 in [Field 1] and B2 in [Field 2], in the Pivot View it will leave the associated rows empty with no row header or anything.
See example... most probably more clear.
For the Collateralised, Senior Unsecured and Supranational bonds they have only Tier *, however below Tier * there are gaps where Omniscope thinks other examples of tiers should go.

Pivot View: Running YTD Total Across Columns?

Is it possible to do a running total across a pivot table? I want to aggregate spend across a number of periods along the x axis split by a year in the y axis? The years and periods are dynamic with time i.e. when you move into another quarter you add another period?

So in 2013 quarter 1 we spent £50, in quarter 2 we spent £70 with the period total then being £50 + £70 = £120. I would then compare 2014 quarter 1 against 2013 quarter 1in the pivot.

Apologies if this is simple I just couldn't seem to get it to work using the Running Total formula.

Could I ask for an update to the Google Analytics connector?

I was trying to get the DeviceCategory dimension, which was added on 12/12/2013, but definitions have not been updated from the depricated columns.

The one I have been looking at is this

"These dimensions and metrics have been deprecated.

Dimension - ga:isMobile - Use ga:deviceCategory instead (e.g., ga:deviceCategory==mobile).
Dimension - ga:isTablet - Use ga:deviceCategory instead (e.g., ga:deviceCategory==tablet).
Metric - ga:entranceBounceRate - Use ga:visitBounceRate instead.

...but there was another release last month, so if you could do a bigger update and incorporate those changes as well that'd be great!

Deployment: Java Web Start issues with version 5.1 update?

Java installations on recipient machines that do not have free Viewers fully installed have been updated to version 5.1 and is causing problems with Omniscope files & Viewers being deployed using Java Web Start.

Our users get errors and their iok files aren't launched. Probably the jar file must be updated?

Can you please have a look asap as this is causing serious delivery problems for us

Filtering: Querying for all non-null values in xml?

When building the query in omniscope, is there a way to exclude value rather than select all values.

Let's say we have a field with values : null,A,B,C,D,E,F

I am deselecting value null, so we have A,B,C,D,E,F left only. Next I am building the query based on filters so in xml I am getting :

Rather than having this I would like to state something like :

but I am getting an error saying that value needs to have "=" sign and it can't have "!=".

For now I need to build a new query whenever new value comes in, otherwise it doesn't work as it is selecting values which were selected in xml previously.

Having a problem where, although activated, the main page on a colleague's computer is not show the same as mine and they cannot access the Tasks, DataManager or DataExplorer from the launch page of Omniscope?

I was hoping to source if this was a bug or if there has been an error in setting up/ activation?

Refresh: IOK saved with Mobile Server not auto-refreshing?

I have an IOK file which is pulling data from an XLS file in the same folder. The XLS filename is always the same, our users are supposed to rename their XLS reports to that name and copy it into the IOK folder, then open the IOK with their Omniscope Viewer and have it load their new data into the dashboard.

I've set the IOK to always refresh on startup, as per the screenshots below. For some reason though, the IOK doesn't refresh when a new XLS is placed in the folder prior to opening it. Am I doing something wrong or is the Viewer not able to auto-refresh data anymore, despite being saved in Mobile Server?

Formulae: Moving Average on the previous row's result?

Please can you assist, basically I have attached 3 files, Automation Excel, I am trying to replicate this formula on Omniscope. if you look at k17 the formula is a moving average, then in cell k18 the formula changes by referencing cell k17 and then Adding a few variables.

In stock I've added a few of my failed attempts at the formula, I would just like clarity on where I'm going wrong. I manage to get the first 3 results. correct but then it seems to loop?

Formulae: Calculating different queries in a Formula

I use Content View and I have created 2 different tables in the same tab, which change dynamically according to the filters and all the data in the tables retrieved by formulas.

On Table 2 I have kept the data isolated from specific filters, but in some rows I would like to do some additions and subtractions by using the data from Table 1, but when I write down the same formula from Table 1 to Table 2 I get different results, which makes sense because Table 2 uses the whole data.

Question: Is there any formula which is able to maintain a specific query or filtered data within?

Refresh: Both Appending and Updating?

hi all

I would like to make a request ...my case;

We have two kind of data in some of our tables
1-newly added rows ( new bookings with new booking ID )
2-updated fields in older rows ( old bookings with some updated fields)

However, whenever we want to update the report it would be very nice to have an option of both updating the related fields of the previous rows and appending the newcomer rows at the same time.

When I use the append table function, the old ones will be duplicated or when i use the update function new rows will not be added?

It would be very helpful for us

Hi,

Please could someone help with the following formula;

(subset_sum([% Popn], subset2([Reach Cat],[ctyName], [Reach Cat], 'Warwickshire','=','='))/subset_sum([% Popn], subset([Reach Cat])))*100

In words: first I am trying to sum the resident population ([%Popn]) for each of the Reach categories (10 categories, [Reach Cat]) where the county ([ctyName]) is Warwickshire. Then I want to divide this number by the sum of the resident population in each of the Reach categories across the whole table.

I keep getting the error "Cannot use field value references. This formula is evaluated in the context of multiple records, without any specific individual records." The problem seems to be with the second "Reach_Cat" in subset2.

I am trying to apply this formula in the measures field of a bar/line chart. The chart will have Reach_cat categories along the x-axis.

%Popn is a decimal number field.
Reach_Cat and ctyName are both category fields.

Please could someone tell me;
1. Exactly what this error means, as I have seen it before but don't know exactly what problem it is indicating.
2. How to fix this formula error.
