Content view: native browser not displaying D3 visualisation in mobile browser versions?

Ideally I'd like to use the built in browser, but I can't get my D3-based JavaScript charts to show in the browser versions for mobile devices. As a result, I'm using the external browser to render the Content Views.

With the native browser I can get output to show in the classic interface by clicking on the view's toolbar and choosing 'view in native browser' from the tools menu. However, pressing F12 to create the browser version for mobile devices results in the lower right view working, but the upper right view not working.

I've cut both views down to bare bones implementations, and I'm not seeing any errors. Is there something obvious I'm missing here?

R Analytics: "K-means clustering" option of "R statistics operation" block broken?

When executing the "K-means clustering" option of "R statistics operation" block an error is raised:

"Error executing R operation.

Error in data.frame(input_data, cluster) :
arguments imply differing number of rows: 139, 61
Execution halted"

I had a look at the underlying R code and it looks like the data is first filtered for null values:

"subset<-na.omit(subset)"

But the last operation tries to remerge the original dataset with the clustering results even though some of the original lines where omitted.

Complex Problem: Row based costs based on multiple variables

Hi there

I've come across a pretty complex issue which I could do with some extra brain power with.

I have monthly revenue data for my clients. Each client pays a % of their revenue each month, based on how much revenue they have generated in their current financial year i.e. anything between 0-5m is 4%, anything from 5m-10m is 3.5% etc. The issue is, each client has a different set (and sometimes number) of brackets for their tiers, and pays a different percentage for those tiers. To complicate things further, each client has a different financial year. The final thing is that each client has a minimum spend for each month, so if the % of their revenue hasn't met the minimum, I need to use the minimum instead.

I need to work out the monthly charge that we take for each client, taking into account how far through their brackets they are.

My thought in tackling this is to have a match table (so that I can add or edit clients details when needed) which lists each client's different variables, bracket 1 value, bracket 1 %, year start, year end and minimum spend. From there, merge all of those fields with my data and work out a cumulative spend each month. Then the tricky bit which I can't quite work out, is to work out what we charge by incorporating the different brackets and the cumulative spend.

I understand this may be difficult to understand but I'm hoping somebody might have an idea how to help. It's also quite good for me to write it down so I can understand better!

Export: Remove thousands separator when outputting CSV?

I do a lot of manipulation using CSV and must output data set tables from Omniscope as CSV for re-use by external programs. Some of these external programs do not support quoting numeric fields in CSV whenever there's a comma separator added into the numeric value in the field. e.g. CSV output:

foo,boo,"10,000",16

When outputting CSVs from Omniscope, could there please be a option which removes the thousand separator in numbers so that quoting the numbers to enclose the separator commas within a comma de-limited file is not necessary?

Facebook API error

Since 1st of May, facebook insights connector isn't working properly. It coincides with the expiration of APIv1 that was not longer working at the beginning of the month.

Could you please check it up? It's a feature we actively use here at Tinval.

Bar/line View: Custom date range with no value endpoint?

I'm trying to show a plot from data starting in January, but I don't find the way to set a custom plot range, since it coincides that in that specific month we don't have any data point value.

Any way to make that plot to start from Jan-2014?

Is there a way to work that through?

Outputs: PDF resetting tabs unexpectedly?

Hi,

Everytime I change something in the Data Manager workspace of a report it seems that the .pdf output resets itself such that it doesn't recognise which of the Report IOK tabs to screenshot. For instance, one of the reports I was running this morning failed because:

" ERRORS:
No source available to refresh from
Chain action "Update and Email" failure:
Skipping block "TPD Core and Sub-Base balances" -Not configured "

After I manually reset the .pdf output settings to specify the correct tabs and ran the report again, everything worked correctly.

Could you please let me know if there is something that I am doing wrong when changing the Data Manager settings, or if this is indeed a bug.

Feeds: Yahoo financial data - not feeding data as normal?

In the web view of omniscope report it keeps on coming up with "Warning Server Licence expires in 3 days (s)"

I have updated the server licence on the server , however this does not seem to filter through onto the web viewer

Any ideas why ?

Merge: Assigning data into bands?

Hi,

I have a shipment file with a list of shipments of different weights. I have a second data table with a list of weights alongside the weight band descriptions, e.g. 0kg = 0-5kg, 5kg = 5-10kg, 10kg = 10-30kg, etc. I want to merge the weight band description field into the shipment file so that, for example, a 25kg shipment is assigned to the 10-30kg weight band. The problem is that in the merge function if I select the shipment weight to be 'greater or equal to' the weight in the weight band file I get a many to many error as a 25kg shipment is greater than 10 so falls into the 10-30kg band but is also greater than 5kg so also falls into the 5-10kg band.

Is there a way I can get it to assign only the 'highest' weight band in which the shipment falls and not every weight band below that as well?

I have created a dashboard on the desktop environment and I share thus dashboard online through the web server link. However on the web view I can see more filters on the sidebar, despite the fact that I have these filters unselected on the offline dashboard.

Batch Append: Importing Workbook Tabs from Varying Files in Folder

Hi

I would like to batch append Excel files in a folder. Each Excel file has multiple tabs. I only want to import and append certain tabs...e.g. tabs named "abc" from each workbook file in the folder

How do I do this ?

Currently in the batch append source block I can only batch append based on names of Excel files rather then the name of the tab? Or can I specify the name of the file and the name of the tab as a extension somehow to overcome this?

Batch Publishing: Output Excel using template files?

Hi,

I am trying to create a set of Excel reports, each containing multiple sheets. The reports need to be formatted in a certain way (i.e. date formats, header rows shading etc)

I can do this using the data file output in DataManager, just by writing to a blank Excel file that already exists and has formatting applied. However, I have about 100 Excel reports, each with 6 worksheets, so this method will be very time consuming to set up and maintain.

I have tried to set this up using a batch output. I am able to actually create the raw data files, but these do not have the formatting that I need. I have created a template Excel file (I've tried .xls and .xlsx) which has all of the formatting applied. However, when I point the batch config to this template file and set the "Preserve template formatting and formulas" to 'true', this does not have any effect?

I have also tried to create a file with the same name as the output, the same way as I would do this using DataManager, but this doesn't work either, the existing worksheets are just totally overwritten.

Is there a way for me to accomplish this without having to create this all manually in DataManager?

Scheduler: E-mail action for address with "_" not being sent?

Hi

I am sending to an email address using the Omniscope Scheduler and XML Actions combination

I have created an email address with "_" in the name and when I use this in the email send action configuration it does not send to the address recipients?

However there is no error message when i test this using the Omniscope XML descriptor and it says "Sent Successfully" but the reciepients do not receive the email?

Radar View: Parallel Coordinate null values?

I have an issue where the radar graphs I am creating is showing something that could be misinterpreted. In certain cells I have blanks but the way the lines join up would suggest that they are at -30 in this example when they are blanks and I would want them to be treated as zeros. I know in the graph view there is an option to "Treat null values as zeros"

DataManager: Viewing field "references" & "referenced by"

Like you can if you are in Field Manager in the actual report.

Would really like to clean up some massive report where the report writer queries a select * from many many tables. I can use the references/referenced by to see which field i need to keep.

Export: Batch output PDF file resolution

Hi All,

We are using a batch output block that generates a lot of PDF files. This workflow is running in the Scheduler on one of our servers.

Depending on the last person who worked with Omniscope on that server, the resolution of the output PDF file is different? The template file is designed to the maximum resolution, so when Omniscope generates the PDF using a lower resolution, the views are not showing correctly and scrollbars appear.

Layout: Identical sizing of views?

I've not come across a way to do this, but I thought that it may exist somewhere.

Assume I have a tab with eight views - four content and four line graphs - a simple dashboard.

I'd like to lay it out such that scroll bars appear & the axes scale at the same time.

That is to say, I'd like my Content views to be the exact same size as each other, and the same for my Bar/Line views.

When using multi-page document view, this is easy to achieve, as I simply set the view sizes and everything works the way I want, but with the fit to screen layout I can't find a way to control this.

At the moment I 'remedy' this by fiddling with my screen size and adjusting views pixel by pixel until it looks about right, but this is very slow. Ideally, I'd set all views to 50% width and 10/40/10/40% height as appropriate.

As noted in my first sentence though, I've not come across a way to do this.

Scheduler: Change in log formats between 2.8 and 2.9 release?

Has there been any change to the formatting and output of the Scheduler log text file produced on the Omniscope Server Editions?

I current see the following: The date time now has a T in between date and time?
Previously you had "Watcher process finished with output" text wording and now i cant see any such wording in the scheduler log.

I am using the following file in the service folder as the Scheduler log "service_scheduler_log"

Layout: How to make all views the same size?

I'm using four views, one on top of another, in a DataExplorer tab. I'd like to make the four views take up the same amount of space (i.e. the same amount of height) as one another, but I'm not sure how. Currently I can only do it by eye which isn't ideal.

Bar/Line View: Display of last weekly split by Date/Time field?

I have found that there seems to be a display issue when we use the date field in the split for 1 week which shows for the week starting 30th Nov 2014 to 6th Dec 2014. It is currently showing the label "30 to 6 Nov, 2014" which really should be showing "30 to 6 Dec, 2014"?

Please find the attached screenshot and let me know if you have a fix for this in any build.

Note: Currently I'm using the latest stable build for Visokio 2.8 b1287.

Ranking: Wanting to Rank Dates Distinctly

I have a date field in one of my files, with about 50 distinct dates in it. I want a field ranking these dates from 1 to 50 (from earliest to latest) - I tried using 'RANK([Date], [Date], TRUE, FALSE, SUBSET())' in a new field, but that gives me 1, 145, 287 (because there are 144 records with the first date and 142 with the second date). How can I get it to rank them 'distinctly' for lack of a better way of putting it, like I described above?
