I was wondering if it is possible to carry out a VLookup type command across a range of Omniscope files. I report three files daily, and have data stored for 40 plus days now. What i would like to do with this data is to use VLOOKUP to trend and track how certain products have performed over time, without having to export 40 files of which there are 3 a day (so about 120 exports into excel, which then means saving them etc etc). Our customers system does not hold historical data, which is why i have been saving each file per day

I'm positive it's the correct password, and I've tried every permutation of username I can think of (with @domain.com and without, etc, etc.)

1. If my measure in the pivot table is a formula, and i am say aggregating by week and brand, the aggregation will allow me to have formula result in the table, however if i add a total row i cannot get the formula result only a sum/mean etc for example of all the data which is not the same. Is it possible to make total rows formula results?

2. Also within pivot tables, are you able to change the colouring from red being low and green high where it may be that low numbers are actually 'good' and so green would make more sense being low?

I have a requirement to group data on a couple of columns in a table view and be able to present the data sorted on a third column.

Clicking on the column header of the 3rd column does not allow me to sort ascending/descending. Is this an expected behaviour?

I change the date format in the Field Manager block to "MMM d, yyyy".
When loaded in Omniscope, the language of this field is changed to the Ducth language (e.g. May is written as Mei) while I am using English as the language in Omniscope.

Previously, on version 2.6, the "Week commencing" range sliders stepped in 7 day periods, eg, 1st Jan 2011, 7th Jan 2011, 14th Jan 2011 etc.
After upgrading to Omniscope 2.6 build (609 alpha) from Omniscope 2.6 (605 alpha), I've realised the "Week Commencing" range sliders step in 1 day periods, despite the fact the field's dates increase in 7 day increments.

This makes the information misleading, as if the slider is set at 3rd Jan 2011, the views are showing data from 7th Jan 2011.

I am not sure if this is a bug or by design.
If this is by design, how can I make the range sliders increase in 7 day increments or increments of only the points the "Week commencing" field has?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

For example, if my dashboard contains data for multiple countries and products, the user can select in this one drill-down tab what country or product they want to see (or is relevant to them) and all other tabs update to only look at the selected country and product.

Does anyone have ideas on how to go about doing this?
I can only think of two solutions:
a) the user is forced to select the country or product for each tab they see.

I have two data source in data manager .One data source is a file and the other data source is Yahoo New Search.

Now the file contains number of records hits on a companies internet site per day.

The yahoo news search block retrieves yahoo news results for the companys website.I then aggregate the output of the yahoo news block by publich date and do a count number of records on this aggregation .

Then i merge the two outputs of the block sources together by date.

Idea being i will have number of visit to a company website a day versus the number of news results for that company in that day.

The only problem is , that the yahoo news search returns "no data" if it cannot find a news search with the companies name input, thus all subsequent blocks fail to populate .As a result i get a error message on the merge block and no data is loaded into omniscope.

Is there any way to oversoem this problem.


I would suggest some sort of override box in data blocks which takes first input block if one return null/no data.

So I ticked both the named queries and created a new named query. I applied it to the chart and it was all working fine.
I then went to data manager and changed one of the fields (not on that was being used in the chart or that was used in the queries (completely unrealted)). I went back to chart to find that the query no longer works and I have to rebuild it.
What am I doing wrong?

I am using the search function in DM, but it behaves in a way I can't explain.
I need to position of the space in the UK postcode value. For most postcodes it works, but for some it doesn't.

Examples:
- Postcode = BH10 4HT: Search(" ", [Postcode]) => 5 (is expected result)
- Postcode = MK45 2QW: Search(" ", [Postcode]) => null (is not the expected result)

Can you please advise?

in an existing dashboard, we want to add a homepage where the user filters the data. The resulting dataset should be used in other tabs. I know we can do this with "New>>Copy (advanced)". But this is based on a situation where the tab that will re-use the filtered dataset, still needs to be developed. In our case the tab exists and we need a new tab for filtering.

We have recently installed the 64-bit version of Omniscope (Build 2.6-alpha b566).
I get the following error:

"ODBC data source name not found. This might be caused by using an ODBC data source name which has not been configured in the ODBC control panel. Alternatively, this might be caused by mixing 32-bit and 64-bit applications and databases. For example, it is not possible to connect Omniscope 64-bit to Microsoft Access 32-bit, or Omniscope 32-bit to Access 64-bit. You must use the same architecture for both Omniscope and your Access installation. This is a Windows limitation. Note: Microsoft Access was solely 32-bit until Office 2010. With Office 2010, a 64-bit version was made available. Microsoft do not permit you to install Office 2010 concurrently in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions."

I understand this is a Windows limitation, but is there any possibility to use my Access db with the 64-bit version of Omniscope? Did anyone face the same problem?

I have a requirement to transpose a data table i.e. show the columns as rows and rows as columns, in DataManager. I am presuming that a combination of pivot and de-pivot operations can get me there, but I cannot quite nail it. It would be really great to hear if someone has accomplished this already and how. An example IOK file with the series of operations done on a small table would be ideal.
