Some background... the zero install is being tested as an initial roll-out device to clients because they either 1) cannot install the free-viewer due to IT restrictions and 2) that we are using the daily builds to create our visualizations and there's no guarantee that the end user will take the time to manually update their free viewer on a daily basis.

We're hoping that we can use the one-click zero install to influence the eventual buy-in of the product to result in a local install of the free viewer once 2.6 is deemed stable.

Thanks for your help with my other posts, all have been resolved splendidly.

I have a new issue now where data is being refreshed using the refresh button, but all formulas in the data explorer get blanked out. To get the formula to refresh I have to either open an existing formula box and click ok without making changes => all formulas refresh, or click on 'recalculate all fields'.

I have multiple copies of this file and it's only one on which this happens, I feel like there's a check box that needs checking but I've not found one. I've looked at the 'Recalculate on Open' fields and all the formula fields are checked... what am I doing wrong?

I understand that if I have a main data source (A), and I join merge a different dataset (B), that when I change information in dataset B, the "refresh from source" will update dataset A.

If I then join merge other data sources (C) & (D) to the main source (A) and consequently makes updates to all referenced files (B, C & D) will the "refresh from sources" recognise that all three tables have changed and therefore update the necessary fields in A?

- the Memory tool (Settings > Advanced > Diagnose memory use - for advanced use only) has additional tools to monitor and free up memory that would otherwise only be reclaimed when memory was low

- the Diagnostics scheduler action has the equivalent tools and further diagnostic output

- on closing a file in Omniscope, extra effort is expended in freeing memory

- also, various memory leaks introduced in 2.6 have been fixed in the last few releases.

Note that if you're using the 64-bit version and need freed memory to be released to the operating system, you will need to configure the "-XX:+UseSerialGC" option. The sheet has 86 rows of data and 4061 columns which need to be transposed. When I import the sheet via the [File] block I get no error message but it only imports 500 fields (columns) and all 86 records (rows).

I then tried changing the [Reader] from 'Excel as CSV' to 'Excel direct'. This then gives me a warning message headed 'Row/column limit':
"It is not possible to import more than 676 columns and 1048576 records. Your excel document has 4061 columns and 86 records. Your data has been truncated to fit the limits"

So 3 questions really:
1 - Why is there a '676' limit when Excel 2010 allows 16384 columns?
2 - Why does it only import 500 columns NOT 676?

Is there a way that when you install v2.6 it doesn't ask you for a registration form? I have a roll out where Omniscope 2.6 will be part of a standard build and rolled out over the network via silent installs when the appropriate users log onto the network. Is there a silent install option?

The problem comes when concatenating, because omniscope then creates 21 new colums to the right of the new formula ones i have created (instead of going in the columns to the left of these formula fields). I would have thought Omniscope could recognise and match up the column headings and put the imported data in the correct cells)

Wondering if theres a fix around this? Im not keen on copying and pasting the merged cells into the right position and then deleting the empty redundant cells over and over again hundreds of times.

Bloomberg is installed on this pc, but cannot communicate with excel 2010 as the links have not yet been built by bloomberg.

I have a separate version of office 2007 with just excel installed and the bloomberg add-ins work with this. I have cheked and can pull data into excel 2007 usung the blloomberg BDP function.

Omniscope fails to connect to Bloomberg and gives the error message "Unable to load Excel Bloomberg libraries" which suggests it is trying to invoke the Excel 2010 version

Is there a way to force omniscope to use a specific version of excel when there is more than one version installed on the PC. In this case to explicitly tell it to use the excel 2007 that is installed?

I'd like to merge data into an omniscope file from a CSV file with this format:

product, code, sales
cofee, code_01, 1234.56
te, code_01, 78.9

Everything goes perfect when I'm using the English locaized version but number's are not correctly imported on the Spanish one as the dot is completly ignored

Is there an CSV standard format that visokio understand in any localization?

I have a Search Box (entering name of the town/city) in Omniscope to filter and visualize number of shops open/closed during a specific period of time. I now want to write and trigger a query to a different dataset either Excel/SQL Server to get opening/closing ratio and vacancy rates of the town I searched using Search box in Omniscope. Is there any alternate way of doing this without importing data to Omniscope file??

We can select a certain portion of the data in an Omniscope view and view the detailed records in a pop-up. Is there any way to extract only that part of the data in excel or CSV? If this facility isn't built-in, is this in the dev pipeline?

I have just started to trial this software and it looks pretty good, one substantial problem for me though is that the tool is unable to successfully read a dataset using BMC's ODBC connector. Why do I need this? Well the BMC ODCB driver does a fantastic job of translating the mess that is the Remedy database, it handles all the date conversions and derived table links.

What I am actually experiencing:

When running through the data manager and you test connection with the BMC ODBC it says Connection OK although it shows an error on the select tables line, if you use custom SQL and perform a test you get told how many results and columns your query returns - great, when you try to execute to retrieve the data the application just hangs and never retrieves any date.





Anyone experienced this or know of a solution? I have a bar chart that has 3 measures, split by a category, reflected at origin and colored by measure. I now want to hide the measure labels under each of the bar since they take up too much space. Any ideas how I can do that?
