Ability to Colour Tokenised data

Currently tokenised field cannot be coloured, I think its due to the commas in the data so that its not being recognised. Is it possible to enable points to be coloured and if possible where a point has two values can it be coloured by both values i.e. half/striped of two different colours?

Location Totals

Hi Guys,

I have a questions. I would like to use the Content View to create a totals page that can intract with the devices.

But I would also like to to be split per region.

So that I could show totals for each region, and then from the sliders select clients. So I will be able to see how much money that client has made per region.

Any ideas how I can do this?

We have send the .iok to our cliente, and they couldn´t launch the omniscope online viewer, the error message said "Unable to launch the application", they told us that IT team installed Java 6.0 but is till appearing the same message.

I am using Server Edition via the command line:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Visokio Omniscope\OmniscopeEnterprise.exe -executeAction "C:\SSIS\Omniscope\0.Input\WWSA_Cat12.xml"

For a folder full of xml source data files. The problem I have is that if one of the xml files causes Omniscope to error the job will not continue until I manually 'Ok' the error message.

Is there a way to suppress or ignore any error messages - I have a validation process checking at the end of the job whether all the files have been built. Thanks -Ed

Outputs: Export to pre-formatted Excel?

Hi - What I would like to do is exporting data from Omniscope into a preformatted Excel. In Omniscope, i can output to Excel, but it will result in a 'raw' dump of data. I know from other systems that there are options like selecting an 'empty' Excel template (containing images, colors, fixed text etc) and indicate where what data should be inserted in the Excel template. Do you know if it is possible in Omniscope to export to a preformatted Excel?

Batch Append Refresh from free Viewer

I am using the "batch append file" source block. As soon as I add a new Excel file into my "source folder" and open the IOK file with the full Omniscope version, the IOK file refreshes after my agreement. Subset functions - average bus hours

Hi, I have to calculate the sum of bus hours / count of tickets. I have created a function for making the count of tickets as below
=RECORDCOUNT(SUBSET2([Month],[Type],[Month]))
but I am unable to find a function for totalling the bus hours for the whole month. Can anyone help me on finding a formula for getting the sum of bus hours per month?

Hide "(no value)" in device Sidebar?

Hi, I currently have a field with some cells having product "A", "B" and "C" and the rest of the values in the field are null. The device sidebar shows "(no value)", "A", "B" and "C". I only want it to show "A", "B" and "C".

How do I go about hiding the "(no value)" text only in the device Sidebar? I am currently using Omniscope 2.6 b609 (alpha).

Hi guys - I would like to find out how to do a simple update to cells, similar action to an MS Access "update" query. Where I select and field, select criteria (for the same of a different field), and what to update the cells into if the criteria is met.

For example, I have a table of people's details i.e. names, address etc. Some of them have an email address in the email field, and for some the email field is null. I want to create a new field which will be called "Has Email?" and will be updated with either "yes" or "no" depending on whether or not the email field for that record has something in it or is null.

Omniscope 2.6 has experimental support for JavaScript in formulas. Further ideas:

- from JavaScript in a formula, the ability to access arbitrary cells and metadata in the data, and the ability to execute nested formulas

- in DataManager, a JavaScript operation block, which provides access to the input datasets and their cells & metadata, and create an arbitrary output dataset.

Tab Text Colours

Raised this once before, but I never followed it through.

I'm using latest version of 2.7.

I want to show some individual tab text headings in different colours. I go to Style- Application Style- Edit White- Tab Colour Text and then select Red from the colour palette. Having an "Apply to ALL Tabs" button below implies that the change should only affect a single tab, but my red selection has already been applied to ALL tabs.

How do I ensure that the text colour change only applies to a single tab?

Table Column edit function on tool bar

Version 2.7: Query Device enhancements

Available from tonight's alpha build, 2.7 b50 or later, these new features take the power of filter devices up a notch or two.

You might use these settings to create tabs which appear to be exclusively showing different subsets of the data. Or you might use these settings to create drill-down hierarchies of choices in filters.

Some of these settings are available per-device, depending on the type of device. You can find these by right-clicking the device name. Others are available from the device panel toolbar, under the Tools menu (spanner icon next to "Devices").

Enable dynamic devices

Enables the calculation of the effect of other devices on each device, used to show preview counts and to determine the effect of "Show values excluded by other devices". If disabled, most of the options below will be unavailable.

For complex data files with many fields, it may take a second or two after changing filters for these calculations to complete. The application will remain responsive during this period, but a tiny spinning clock will be shown in the device toolbar to indicate that preview counts, etc., are being updated.

Available from the device panel toolbar.
Show "(no value)"

If unticked, the "(no value)" option, if present, will be hidden. Has no effect on the way filtering is applied.

Available for category list and number/date slider devices. Can also be set globally from the device panel toolbar.
Show values excluded by other devices

If unticked, only choices which have an impact on remaining data will be shown. So if all records with value "X" have already been excluded by another filter, you won't see "X" in this device.

Example use: you have "Country" and "State" devices. The Country device might have 20 options, and the State device might have 30 options for every country. Use this setting on the State device to limit available choices to those relevant to the selected countries.

Available for category list and number/date slider devices. Also available for yes/no options (individually) and the named-query device. Can also be set globally from the device panel toolbar.
Show frozen devices

If unticked, all frozen query devices will be hidden. If actively filtering, they will continue to filter "silently".

Example use: you are creating a tab that simulates the effect of loading only a subset of data into Omniscope. You use a query device to filter down to the simulated data, you freeze it to exclude it from resets, and you hide it using this option.

Example use: see below. Available from the device panel toolbar.
Rebase main barometer for frozen devices

If ticked, the barometer in the main toolbar will "rebase" to simulate the effect of deleting all records excluded by frozen devices.

Example use: you are creating a tab that simulates the effect of loading only a subset of data into Omniscope. Use a query device to filter down to the simulated data, freeze it to exclude it from resets, hide it using "Show frozen devices", and use this option to rebase the main barometer.

Available from the device panel toolbar, and from right-clicking the barometer.
Show empty devices

This new option is unticked by default and demonstrates a new behaviour typically needed when some of the above options are used. If all options in a device are removed due to "Show values excluded by other devices" and/or "Show (no value)", the device itself will disappear from the sidebar.

Available from the device panel toolbar.
Sort values by frequency

This old option has now been enhanced to dynamically reorder options according to their frequency in the filtered data. When ticked, you will observe checkboxes reorder as you play with other devices. Also now extended to other device types.

Useful to highlight the more populated values in your current filtering context, which will appear at the top of the device.

Available for category list devices and the yes/no and named-query devices. Can also be set globally from the device panel toolbar.
Restrict to single value

Allows you to change a list of checkboxes into a list of radio buttons. Radio buttons only permit one choice to be selected at one time. This means that the device cannot be reset, and is always filtering. The user can choose any available single value.

Useful if you want to prevent the user from ever seeing more than one set of data at once - where, for example, this might sum data in a way that would be incorrect.

Available for category list devices only.
Show total

This allows you to choose whether to show the total number of records in the main barometer or not. For example, this is shown as "/100" as in: "83 [barometer] 17 / 100".

Available from right-clicking the barometer.

Layout: Floating scrollbars (2.7)

Minimalist, floating scrollbars were introduced to 2.7 last week.

They no longer take up any space on-screen and instead "float" where needed. This removes visual clutter from the display, since they only appear when you move your mouse over the relevant area.

You can go back to "classic scrollbars" via Settings > Advanced > Miscellaneous

Pie chart splits now restricted

I've noticed that the pie chart on my 2.6 b797 no longer allows splits by text field when there are too many text values - the option is now altogether removed from the split option within the pie view. In the previous versions we've managed to make these splits even with 820 unique text values. Will future 2.6 or even 2.7 continue to accommodate this?

Security: Domain locking from Desktop?

Quick one. I wanted to domain lock an iok file but in version 2.6 i cant seem to find an option for it. On your website it says for 2.5 go to save as and tic the box which says domain lock but there isn't one in 2.6.

Could you direct me to where this option is in 2.6 please?

Master data management & versioning

Hi Guys,

How do you guys deal with versoning? We have many teams per deivision that deal with analysis. I have created each an IOK file so that I can ensure they are all working from the same data. Howerver if two people from the same division open the same IOK file at the same time, one of them is going to lose charts or work they have done analysing the data. Any one got any ideas?

Percent Change

Question for all of you:

Is there an easy way to calculate percent change month to month? If I'm aggregating by date in column 1 (histogram monthly) and I have a value in column 2 as the monthly total, how can I easily get the third column to show the percent increase or decrease over the past month?

Y axis customisation on graph view

Hi All,

I have multiple graph views on one tab and want to customise what data can be seen when you choose a Y axis.
I did this without any problems but then when i went to another graph view in the same tab the changes i had made were carried over to it. Is there a way of showing certain sets of data in one graph view when choosing a Y axis and then having different sets of data visible when choosing a Y axis in another graph view within the same tab?

Really annoying if this isn't possible - let me know if you need further info.

I am having some issues changing date formats into weeks with date data. I took a date column, duplicated it to convert to weeks, and now I want to show: "w, M/d"

It is only working for certain rows and I'm not too sure why. Any suggestions?
