I have a file which is refreshed/upadated/output blocks published automatically from a server omniscope licence.

Now , the output block publishes the file to a shared drive .

Every couple of months the location which the ouput block publishes the file to changes without any user changing these settings.It appears to save the file to the users C drive.It appears to do this when a user changes and saves the file on a data manager licence and not on a server licence.

Also when you publish a file using the ouput blocks it saves it to i.e J drive (after browsing and selecting the location) say and it does not allow you to enter the full path (I.e the mapping of the J drive ).

Any help would be much appreciated as this is a reoccuring problem

I was enquiring to see if it was possible to have a pop up view (Bar graph /Pie chart) when hovering over a stacked bar view or bar graph much like you can have a hover plotin map view.Currently you can get a list of records in bar viewby right clicking but i would like a pie graph/bar chart instead of the table view.

Is this currently possible ?

I'm creating multiple IOK's from a batch file which I need password protected and domain locked.
For some reason, even when I specify the IOK templates password in the batch file I get the message:
"The password is not available".

Could you let me know where I'm going wrong?

Am i missing a column out in the batch file or is it just the password column needed? I checked that i had the correct password so that's not the problem. Also if I domain lock the template IOK's will that then filter down into the batch output iok's?

I'm using batch output to create multiple iok files. In filter rules for the iok's with only one filter ( [Market]=[UK] ) for instance everything works fine.

But for some reason when i select multiple filters the iok's have no data in them

I've tried both of these syntax and still no joy so if you could let me know the correct way of writing the filtwers that would be great.

Filter rules:

[Market]=[UK],[Market]=[Spain],[Market]=[France]

[Market]=[UK],[Spain],[France]

None of the above work.

I've attached a view of the navigator. The tree on the right will result in the single row of five values that I want to sum and then use as "inputs" to a formula in the tree on the right.

I've got a dashboard hosted on our server and it's linked to by a jnlp file. Now for the majority of people accessing the dashboard there isn't a problem but a view are getting the attached "file is corrupted" error message. The dashboard is password protected and domain locked so would this have anything to do with it?

I've recently saved the dashboard through the 2.7 version of Omniscope so could this be an issue?

Urgent one here.
In a couple of bar charts in my dashboard i hide the axis and also have it set to a specific metric (as you do).
Now when i upload this to the server and then open the iok via jnlp and data viewer the axis in the bar charts are now visible and the metric for the axis has changed!!

Can you let me know how to fix this asap please as i need to publish this for the client today!

These ideas would not affect pre-configured IOK files; they would only change default settings, and hide inactive unusual choices.

1. In the function picker, only show functions which have the same resulting data type (in the same "logical value domain") as the field they are applied to.
   
   Visible choices (depending on field data type):
   
   • Sum
   • Mean
   • Median
   • Mode
   • Minimum
   • Maximum
   • Singleton value
   • First value
   • Last value
   • (Formula result)
   
   
   Power-user hidden choices:
   
   • Record count
   • Empty count
   • Non-empty count
   • Unique value count
   • Unique values list
   • Range
   • Standard deviation
   
   
   You would still be able to get at the power-user hidden choices easily but would not see these by default.
   
   This is necessary for (3), to avoid aggregation/grouping from changing the data structure and preventing formulas from working. Formulas are defined to operate over underlying raw data, and if your aggregation changes a text field into a numeric through the use of "Empty count", the formula will most likely fail.
   
   This change would occur in grouping and aggregation, but perhaps also elsewhere for consistency and to remove choices which are confusing - e.g. a value labelled "Sales volume" but showing "Range" is incorrect.
   
   
2. In the Table view, we provide a "Formula result" option for each field alongside sum/mean/etc., just like with aggregation, instead of the "calculate formulas over grouped results" precedence setting.
   
   
3. In aggregation and grouping, we make "(Formula result)" the default for any formula field. This would include the Table view grouping, in-view aggregation, and the Aggregation operation in the Data menu and in DataManager.
   
   Note: While the bar view aggregates automatically, we couldn't allow choosing "Formula result", since Omniscope couldn't tell whether to sum/mean/whatever in any fields referenced by formulas. Instead, you would use the new "Formula" measure in 2.7, which allows you to write your own field-independent formula where you are required to use SUBSET_SUM/MEAN as appropriate.
   
   

This would mean that, if you have formulas configured in the underlying data, and you are rolling up a view to show the total sales per region, your formulas would re-execute by default.

However, due to the power and complexity of formulas, we would like to get feedback from our power users as to whether this would be a net-positive change. I have a bit of a problem. I have a dashboard hosted on an extranet which a client can login to and view using free Viewer.

The only problem is that their IT department is really strict and they also sit behind a proxy server (which causes further problems) and they are currently unable to install the latest version of Java (or the version which is compatible with omniscope) to view their dashboard. After many discussions this method of providing them the dashboard is out of the question as it is too time consuming and a very large hassle.

My question is, are there any other ways to provide the dashboard to the client without them having Omniscope installed on their machines? I know they can download and install free viewer and we can send them the iok file but this isn't feasible as i need to domain lock the file and restrict access to the data manager to protect our intellectual property.

If you could let me know asap that would be great. I've thought about using a virtual machine which they can VPN to but again as they're behind a proxy server even this may cause problems.

You can now search at the top-right using the same syntax as Google.

For example:

• bar graph to search for discussions containing both "bar" and "graph"
• "graph view" colouring to search for discussions containing both "graph view" (exact phrase) and "colouring"
• colour -key to search for discussions containing "colour" but not "key".

Unlike Google, words must be exact, so you can't search for "color" and see hits for "colour".

If you can't find what you're looking for, use our Google custom search, which is configured to search the Visokio website and forums, but won't include very recent posts nor restricted (e.g. alpha-partner-only) posts. You will find an option to use Google on the forums search results page.
